Subject: Achilles Tendons


Greetings,

I've had to stop doing Bikram due to an injury and was hoping to see if anyone else has heard of this.

I have Achilles Tendinosis. Here is the link to what is going on with me.

It's really painful and I can hardly walk in the morning. I loved my practice, but I can't go back to something that's caused me so much pain. I'm so afraid of it getting worse. I'm only at stage 1 now.

I've been resting for 6 weeks and although it's better, it's not gone. I'm hoping 8 weeks might do the trick.

I don't know what caused this, but think it's a combination of stretching like crazy and the heat causing my muscles to flex further than they should normally?

Ideas/solutions welcome. Massage helps ease the pain, but other than that, I haven't done a lot to address this besides stop the yoga.

Raye - sounds awful! You may want to look into some of the therapies that work with the fascia of the muscle, like Hellerwork or Rolfing. They claim to reorganize the cells and make them slippery again - less leathery. I have had great results for several (but not all) injuries with Hellerwork.
