Our local studio has just been taken over by new owners and they have immediately raised the cost of a monthly pass from $130 to $180!!! This is very small studio with no showers, reception area, changing room etc and no room to put them. Our yoga community is completely devastated as many cannot afford this. The owner is not open to reviewing his prices nor will he offer an auto debit program at reduced rates. The only improvement is a few additional classes a week. We aren't in a large metropolis like NY, SF or LA so nobody can justify this. Has anybody any idea if Bikram regulates this kind of thing? I think the studio will end up going out of business as class attendance has dropped from 15 - 20 people to 3-5. Has anybody had this happen in their community? What can we do other than stop going to Bikram's?

I know nothing about Bikram's pricing, but if I were to register at my studio for 3 90 minute classes per week it would cost about $150/month. Add a bit extra for the privilege of being able to go to class 5, 10 or whatever times per week and it sounds reasonable to me. It could be that the new owners are taking over because the previous one was not charging enough to pay the bills.

I think it was more a case of the old owner feeling burnt out and wanting to go off traveling. Just about all the Bikram studios offer a monthly unlimited pass as Bikram thinks people should go just about every day!! $180 is definitely up there with the priciest of schools.

Its just a sequence of postures at a certain tempreature. So just remember them and practice elsewhere if the money issue troubles you.

Hopefully the market of demand and supply will take care of the issue. If there is low demand, within a short time the new owner will have to offer package at substantial discounts. Namaste

It'll be like everything else, we'll vote with our wallets--if we like the goods/service, we'll pay the price. If we don't, adios.

Yep - I think you guys are right. Supply and demand. 3 people in a class isn't going to cover the heating bill and teacher's pay. I'm hopelessly addicted to Bikram's but I guess if the studio closes I won't have a choice!! (Boohoo)

| I do almost exclusively at home. Mostly since there is no studio nearby. I put together a home studio that I can heat to 95 degrees without much trouble...and I play the bikram tape.
