Forgive me if this question has been asked before, but what is the relationship between Yoga and massage? Did massage techniques come from Yoga?

Thanks!

Jim is right....however, there is such a thing called Thai Yoga Massage. What that entails is (in a nutshell) the massage practitioner is engaging the client into yoga like postures, where the therapist is using massage technique's and her feet and body mechanics. It's kinda interesting and somewhat beneficial - especially for the therapist, Okay, the client does benefit too as you can really get into some deep stuff...not for the beginner massage client though,

Seriously, I am almost finished with Massage School - clinicals start next week, anybody in my area come get one for $20, from me, July-Sept. Having that said...... Yoga and Massage do compliment one another if you are a yoga teacher as it can 1) offset and provide extra income and 2) you can help your clients heal their bodies. It really enhances your practice by learning anatomy and physiology.....I never thought I'd hear myself say that, but its true...Nick should appreciate that one!!! In my case, I apply Traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic Principals to all of it and that is absolutely incredible!!

Yoga and massage have things in common.
Massage is one of the oldest of the healing arts. If someone is in pain or suffering from illness or injury, its nurturing touch is a wonderfully supportive way of helping the body to heal itself.

Massage and yoga are two healthy practices used to promote overall health and well-being. Yoga is the perfect complement to routine massage therapy. And therapeutic massage can be an important component of your health maintenance or wellness plan.
