When you begin to have contact with EXPANDING INNER SPACE, your efforts begin to be successful. When there is the shocking experience of your sense of self, your self as you know it, beginning to disappear --- we have a good direction.

According to me, successful meditation means when you forget all thing, stress and depression and feel light and happy that meditation is successful mediation. And mediation is more effective if it was doe after yoga.

Successful meditation is the meditation that provides relief and brings a feeling of contentment in our mind. A mediation in which you perform all your required activities of meditation in a peaceful manner without any disturbances can be called as a successful meditation.

The point of meditation is so bring you present in the moment. Focusing on feeling rather than imagery will bring you present in the moment.

To me there is no success in meditation.

The point of meditation is to remain calm and focus on breathing. I used to think that my running mental chatter was hindering my progress of meditating successfully but after watching John Kabat, I realized that my thoughts are part of the process.

Once in a meditation retreat, I had felt as if I reached "success". But this only hindered my expectations as I would try to reach it every single time again. I had to let this expectation go in order to meditate properly.

I believe that every success should make you a better person inside-out.

I see the ideas of meditation and success as opposites. I see meditation as observing without comment or preconceived ideas. When you are seeking anything, including success of any kind, you are not observing, you are manipulating yourself towards an objective and seeking a predetermined idea or state, not observing what actually is.

As Albert Einstein so beautifully said:
"Man should look for what is, not what should be."

Calm Your Mind. This is the most difficult part of learning how to meditate properly. The mind is used to continually receive and process information. When your mind is completely quiet, you’ll begin to look into your soul and discover your true self. This is a form of expanding your consciousness. Don’t eat a heavy meal before you meditate. This will induce sleepiness. A snack consisting of fruits will do just fine. You can also take a shower first before meditating.Wear loose cotton clothes to make you feel comfortable.

Don't go around shopping for meditation tools; instead look for a competent guru, a successful guide. Because anyway you cannot make it alone through the mind's maze (or maya) without a guide. Even though there are many who shop for gurus as well. Because they don't recognize when they see one.

So the question should have been "How to recognize an authentic guru; the real deal?"
