Subject: I can Haiku

I was inspired by a character in a book I'm reading. She claims Haiku is the highest form of communication. I'm sure she would be disappointed in my lame attempts, and my 5-7-5 formula, but I had fun writing a few. Here goes:

mending for others
stitch stitch stitch stitch yawn stitch stitch
discipline required

sun salutations
i get moving on my mat
and then i find bliss

winter's time is done
spring explodes into greenness
the freshest of greens

as i write haiku
counting all my syllables
I lose track of time

smoke dancing lessons
hear the drum speak to my heart
now feet it's your turn

I hope some one else will add. If I can haiku you can too!

I tend to run more to the limerick, myself.

Its starting to look more like spring
And that is a wonderful thing.
We all need some sun
To go out and have fun
This surely doth make my heart sing!

While jewelling my new ballroom gown
I had more than one little frown.
But I did pranayama
To make myself calma
And now its the talk of the town!

Happy weekend everyone! We are off to do our very first "real" competition (though not in the sparkly gown - goofy rules and also it isn't done yet. I have 8 more gross of Swarovski rhinestones on order...). I'll post some photos when it is done:-)

Oh that quilt girl has quite the quick wit.
With the poetry bug she was bit.
She did some haiku
Then a limerick, too!
What's next? A Shakespearean sonnet?

That was great Tourist, I was starting to feel like chore girl for a while there. Unfortunately the poetry fever has passed for now. I'm hoping for more inspiration in the future. The Shakespearean sonnet might take some research.
