Yippeeee! So exciting! He has gorgeous red hair. Mom and Dad have that familiar look of exhilarated exhaustion. Beautiful.

thamks all! those pics were taken within hours of birth! i had an, awesome 24 hr labor and an amazing birth. i'm fairly certain that without UC, it would not have happened as it did. no way a hospital or even BC would let me do some of those positions as needed. and the screaming. it wasn't pain--pure energy in the screaming (last two hours). amazing process.

yeah pretty sure the UC made it possible.

he's an amazing little guy. i just love to hold him. he's sleeping now (he actually sleeps quite a bit--and so we're having some interesting nursing troubles, but those are working out), and we're doing well.

we are pretty worn out, but we've started napping in shifts and have an evening routine and morning routine that really works well for us. overnight, the feeding is the larger issue--so it's 5 minutes to try to get him on the breast, then feeding pre-expressed milk, then settling him back down and pumping away. back to sleep in about 30 minutes to sleep for 2 hrs, then do it again.

get up in the morning, i feed him while ryan showers and does a few morning chores (clearing out night time diapers--we're half ecing now), and then ryan holds him while i shower and do a few morning chores (organizing what we'll need for the day, making the bed, dressing the baby). then breakfast as a family (feeding time comes quickly), and thenw hatever the day holds.

we finally have internet back, so while ryan naps, i write and hold the baby and pump my breasts for all they're worth, and this is after my nap, after a previous feeding.

everything is going great. we're spending a lot of time talking with LLL-ers! very helpful and encouraging. i hope we figure out how to take from the breast, but this pattern isn't that bad. i'd be willing to do it until he's 34 if that's what is required. LOL!

he's just a doll. it's amazing how much you can love someone!

The sleepiness will go - my DD "woke up" at around 3 weeks, I think. It is nice for you to get some rest, though. Wish I was close enough to send a casserole!

Hey ZB! Ruby was a sleepy baby too... she woke up at around 3 weeks too. The BFing will come. It took us about 8 weeks to "get it"... by then, sore boobies were gone, latching was down pat, it's like it all clicked!
Good luck with everything! My thoughts and prayers are with you all!!! CONGRATS again! What a little miracle- it's amazing to truly feel 100% unconditional love, is it not?

Ah, those wonderful casseroles...love it Glenda. Those casseroles saved my LIFE!!!

Yea, ditto for me too, I'd send ya a Vegan Casserole or something sweet with honey and almonds for the event.
