| Last night, I noticed a rainbow around moon. This has happened first time in my life. So, one of my friends took the shot and here it is.

| Gorgeous photo Neel! The full moon has been so lovely here as we are in a spell of cold, clear weather. A moon rainbow is called a "moon dog" and apparently if you count the stars visible within the circle, that is the number of days before the bad weather returns. |

| The aurora borealis are wonderful. You aren't supposed to be able to see them from where I live, but we did once years ago. We also saw them in Penticton, BC, another area supposedly too far south to see them. Seriously cool! |

| That's one trip I will make in my life- to see the Northern Lights.. I can't even imagine how wild they must be!
Hey Neel, I've heard that the "moon rainbow" - also called the Corona- is a sign that a storm is coming! Today was a beautiful day- but we are supposed to take a turn tomorrow.... either way, it sure is "purty"! |

Location: London, England | Hiya,
Apparently the scientific name is "Paraselene" but I seem to remember them being called something else. They really are beautiful-but I can't work out why that's your first, Neel? Are they more common in certain parts of the world? Because I've seen one loads of times.

| Yes Dear Nick. That was my first time. And, I came out of my class and saw the sky and I could not imagine that there was a rainbow around the moon. I have the original high resolution picture if someone wants.

| It is funny that a lot of people either haven't seen or haven't noticed one before. My son saw one here over Christmas and said it was his first. though I found it hard to believe. One great thing about our hot tub (no, not TOO hot, Neel ) is that we are outside almost every night, which helps keep us in touch with the night sky more. |

| How beautiful! I have always felt so connected to the moon, she is a great source of love and inspiration for me. Thank you for sharing the picture, Neel. |
