drink only pure water, do not eat anything, and if you feel extremely hungry drink pure whole milk in a small quantity if you are doing any physical movements at all, and go to sleep or meditate

All these can be done at home, and are therefore Home Remedies.

Ginger or peppermint are also very good for settling an upset stomach. Live yogurt can help re-balance the gut's natural good bacteria (persistent acidity can indicate ulcers, many of which are caused by a particular 'bad' bacterium that's kept in check by the 'good' guys).

Katrina - eat small meals frequently, eat non-acid foods (no citrus or tomato, for example), eat cooked vegetables rather than raw, soups and stews - liquidy, watery foods works well for most people. Don't exercise or lie down for 3 - 4 hours after eating. If you are really hungry at bedtime, a small cracker, some plain yogurt (just a spoonful or so) or (nicer, but not as healthy!) some ice cream will usually get you through the night. Good luck!

In furthering your research Katrina, please do not confuse foods that are acidic in nature but NOT acidic in the body, and vice versa. It is only what a food is IN you that is relevant.

Likewise keep in mind that the stomach must maintain an acidic state in order for it to function properly. Which is why ant-acids are not the best remedy in the case you outline. An acidic stomach is absolutely appropriate.

If you are a bit more revealing and descriptive with the issue perhaps a more sound assessment will lead to a more sound resolution.

Neel - I ate a LOT of Haagen Dasz in the last months before I had my surgery. It soothed my tummy better than anything. I was worried that I was addicted and would keep eating it a lot, but my body doesn't seem to crave it anymore. Now when I am hungry in the evening, I can eat a little bit of actual food and not worry that I will have pain in the night. I am happy about that!

Only you, Tourist can eat Haagan Dasz at bedtime,

I like to drink warm almost hot, vanilla or regular whatever is in the fridge, soy milk before bedtime with a couple of saffron threads that have marinated a few minutes, along with a very small pinch of fresh nutmeg. This is my favorite bedtime toddy (sp?) It's an aphrodisiac...another words...it helps you sleep, relieves any pain, etc. Saffron is very good for these kinds of things. If you don't have Saffron, you can use the Po' Man's Saffron, which is a tiny pinch of Turmeric - just make sure you boil your soy milk for 3 mins at least. Don't cook Saffron, ever. Hot water is okay, but do not cook. Saffron is a sacred flower from the God's.

Although...Neelbhai's suggestion is good too. I've had days where pure water was the best remedy.

Sorry, I can't spell today..period.

Acidity a kind of stomach burn after taking meals. Avoid to eat more spicy and oily foods, always make a habit for eating one type of fruit after taking dinner and lunch, those fruits like watermelon, banana or cucumber and many more. Coconut water 4-5 glass in a day is best to dealing with high heart burn.
