Subject: Pranayama

Hi all,

I am aware that you cannot practice Pranayama soon after a meal. What about eating or drinking "after" the practice? How long do you have to wait after the practice if you want to eat/drink?

Thanks,
Anu

Are you talking about pranayama practice or asana practice. That depends on how much practice you are doing. If you did only mild practice, there is no problem of eating even just after few minutes of relaxed break. If you did strenous practice, you should think of taking 30 min relaxed break. If you can relax very very well, 15 min break after any level practice should be enough.

That is my STRONG OPINION.

Thank you for the prompt response. It is Pranayama practice which I do daily for definitely an hour. So I assume that 15 mins will be enough for me.

One hour of pranayama is quite advanced. Kudos to you for building to such a level.
Pranayama should always be followed by 10-15 minutes of savasana. After exiting from savasana you may eat lightly if you feel the need. I personally would wait 15 minutes. But there's no one right answer as far as I am concerned.

If you vomit it's probably too soon.
