I'm really concerned about her too. Hope she is getting a lot of rest.

Thanks Glenda and Cyndi for your well wishes. This week ended up being much scarier than I realized. It didn't all hit me until Tues. night at the hospital. I think it was scary because I didn't actually realize how sick I was. I had been sick for so long.. that I didn't notice how bad it had gotten. I just kept waiting for it to go away. I've never been sick like that in my life. It really took my parents to tell me this was more serious than a cough. Apparently, my coloring was horrendous (even the nurses commented on the difference after a few days) and my eyes were sunken into my head.
I'm happy to report, though, on the little breath-o-meter they sent me home with I'm doing much better. At my age and height, I should be blowing around 460... on Sunday, I was barely hitting the 200 mark... last night, I hit 400!! So things are on the rise! It's nice to have my breath back! The last time the respiratory techs came in to do my breathing treatment- the guy commented on my lung capacity- I told him that I'm finally getting my yoga lungs back!
My OB had me check in with him on my way out of the hospital. That ended up being a fun visit. Because my Mom was with me and she'd never been to a modern-day OB appt.. the doc snuck us in for a peek on the ultrasound! It was soo much fun seeing my Mom's reaction to the baby! It was cool for me to see how much the baby has changed in the last 10 weeks. We saw her eyeballs, she was practicing her breathing (like her Mama), we saw her teeth up inside her gums.. it was truly amazing. And she's doing just fine!
But, I'm happy to be home. I'm supposed to take it easy for a few more days... Dan and I are heading out for a peaceful, relaxing trip to the beach (just to sit and listen to the waves and rest) on Sunday.. and then I follow up with the Pulmonary Specialist and then try to go back to work.

Glad to hear your doing better.

Marylisa, I really hope you get lots of rest. Rest is the most important factor for healing your body. Even when you think your rested and go back out into stress, (my definition of stress is that there is good stress and bad stress - too much of either one is just plain stress) its very easy to get "un-rested" again. I hope you are paying attention to that aspect of rest.

Also, even though you may be having joys of fun with doing things, such as getting baby's room ready, the restaurant, etc. All these things, even though they are joyful, can be stress factors. You know its all about balance. If I were there, I'd come help you do baby's room...that's some really fun stuff..my favorite.

Okay, I'll quit being a Mother, Sorry.

Thanks Cyndi! With all of my watch dogs (my husband, my folks, some of my staff) I'm not being allowed to do much. Which is good, because sometimes I need a good bop in the head to realize I'm overdoing it. But, I've been in bed since last Wednesday and will be until at least Monday... so I'm going slow, really slow. I'm moving enough to not get really sore and miserable, but I'm not exerting myself. Which is a strange thing for someone who's been at full throttle for at least 6 years now (with the restaurant). But you know, the restaurant is doing just fine without me- in fact, my husband isn't even really giving me any updates- nothing to worry about. We'd been weaning me off my job for a couple of months now in preparation for having the baby-
You can mother me all you want Cyndi! I always welcome wise and comforting words!

i'm so glad that you're doing well.

how long do you think you're going to SAHM after the baby is born? i know you have lots of work with the restaurant, so i'm just curious. of course, you may discover you don't want to go back! is future grandma going to provide day care?

and how about this?

my mom and i were talking about babies, and my mother said that she and dad talked and they're thinking about moving where we do and cohousing with us because my mom wants to take care of the kiddo.

honestly, i'd been dreaming about that too.

Yes, the restaurant will be fine without you. I like your idea of not discussing business...that too is very important. Out of sight, out of mind...my best rest stress relief policy!

Now we need to figure out which yoga asana's are good for you so you don't get bed sores. If you can't do asana's...at least do some kinds of stretching exercises or go for short walks in the neighborhood. Nature walks are always theraputic. You can still be resting and moving about. Some people think resting is all about lying in the bed, when really its about the stillness of doing nothing, mostly in the brain,

Also, thanks for the Torta hints. I got most of the ingredients. I need a nice dish to bake it in. I'm going to Earthfare this weekend, I'll look if they have them or not. Okay, take care,

Ciao, (this is the only Italian word that I know really well, I'm practicing ya'll get used to it )

Boy, things were dicey for a bit--glad it's all improving kiddo. I'm missing Mish, gruvemom, and Fifi too. Still miss ole Afroyogi, and Lora and Grannyrunner (who passed away a year ago now). Wonderful ole brother Bay Guy popped in the other day. Life--and death--get in the way too darn often.

Good to "see" you ladies!

I was thinking about Mish the other day too and how everything is faring with her son.

Cyndi- let me know how your torta works out! I was wondering about that! A long time ago, my husband and I decided that we had to limit our restaurant talk at home. Otherwise, the working together... the living together... it was all too much!

zb- I forgot to answer your post.. Not exactly sure how long I'll stay at home after the baby comes. The plan is to slowly transition me into more of a bookkeeper role and less of a chef/general manager role.. that way I'd be able to bring the baby with me to the restaurant and work in the office- so my hours would also be a lot shorter. I will be the primary caretaker of the baby... so we are going to see how it all goes.
My Mom will definitely be helping with the baby. She lives only about 1 1/2 miles from me and she SOOOO GREAT with babies and little ones! Not to mention that she's one of my best friends. Hell, I'm that close with all my family members! Half the time, I'd rather hang out with them than others!
The trick will be that my nephew will be 19months old when both babies are born (remember that my SIL is pregnant as well and just a week behind me)... so there will be lots of babies!!

That's great about your folks!! What a huge help that will be!

Looks like the torta won't happen until next week. I'm leaving out of town for a couple of days. I'll keep ya posted.

I'm a stay at home MOM - okay, I'm still a stay at home MOM, even though my kids are 22 and 15...I think that is the best and healthiest thing you can ever do for your child. When you read the news about day care centers and all this Staph infection crap going on...drives me nuts!! When my daughter turned 4, we let her go to this little pre-k thing. I HATED it. The bad part was that she loved it and it was very hard to just yank her out of it. The food was horrible. Mostly canned and packaged. I was totally freaked out that year!! In fact, I volunteered a LOT, like several times a WEEK. The screwed up part was that you had to have an MD's permission for your child to bring their own food. The joys of beauracrats and politics!!

So, YES, YES and lots of KUDOS and everything to be able to stay at home and give your children a safe and healthy enviornment. In the long run, you may sacrifice a lot, but the rewards are many. Trust me. The headaches and suffering that you will save yourself is too much to put down in words. Unless of course....you can find a center that has a bunch of "Tourist's" in, Then you really get lucky. But, most of the time, a Tourist comes along only once in a while..not for the entire duration of their pre-school and school lives. I remember it was every 2 years we got a "good" teacher...but after the 3rd grade..I said "F** It" and that is when I started homeschooling. I couldn't take it anymore. It's worth the sacrifices...ALL OF THEM.

Ideally, I'd love to stay at home. It's just a matter of if we can make it happen at the restaurant. But, that being said, we live four houses down from the restaurant.... so that makes things a lot easier. Not to mention, we may set some things up at home so I can do a lot of the books from home instead of there. My husband is also working on getting this other business off the ground and running. Right now, he's taking it slow, but there is alot of demand and he's doing really well at it. So, over the next couple of years, if that takes off.. we will look to sell the resaurant and he will support us all. Which would really be the ideal situation.
I'm not completely sold on the daycare thing at all... as you said, Cyndi, a Glenda doesn't come around all the time. I've seen some of the ones around here and I'm not necessarily buying it. Not to mention, it really is a matter of finances- will we have to work twice as hard to afford good daycare? If so, doesn't make sense. My bro and SIL nanny-share 2 days a week with a neighbor... that may be something we look into with my bro and SIL after their baby is born.

We're just going to take it a day at a time and see... I know we should be planning.. but there is no way to know the outcome ahead of time, so we're going to get through the pregnancy first, then the first few weeks, and then see where life takes us!

i see grandma care and work close to home/at home as an extension of SAHM stuff.

i mean, lemme be honest--i go nuts if i dont' teach yoga for a while. ryan says it's hilarious because while on vacation, if i've gone more than 5 days without teaching a class, i start reciting sequences of postures and breathing techniques during hikes. LOL i coerce fellow hostelers into taking class with me--i start talking to random security personelle about good postures to help with their jobs.

so, i don't think i could just become a SAHM and not teach yoga--and i'm sure the baby would be like "woman, shut up with the yoga already. i'm 4 days old. crazy talking about ardha chandrasana as if i can even hold my head up yet. geesh."

lol!

so, i have to teach. and my mother says i'm not allowed to take the baby to "those filthy gyms and their terrifying day care centers." though, ryan wants to be a work-at-home dad, so he may be SAHD while i work teaching yoga.

but, i have to teach yoga, or i might die or something.
