i'm glad you didn't feel like you had to take it. it concerns me. around here, doctors and midwives will "drop" patients who won't take certain tests or consent to certain practices. so, you have a choice between doing what they say or not getting any care.

Well, I just got back from yet another doc- this is the FIRST one who actually listened to me- turns out.. it's asthmatic bronchitis (status asthmaticus? - This is what he said). They had me breathe into a machine and they couldn't even register a breathe. After they had me on the bronchodilator for 5 minutes, they could finally get it to register.. but barely. The doc was actually really concerned. He called my OB and consulted with them. Basically, we're giving the meds a shot over the weekend and if, by Monday, things aren't better, he said he may have to admit me into the hospital. So, let's pray the meds work! I'm to stay in bed all weekend... because the drugs are stronger, the docs (OB and this guy) said that the baby doesn't need to be under anymore stress that she will be on the meds.
If only that first a-hole doc had listened to my chest almost 3 weeks ago!! It would've never gotten this far!!!

Hey ML: Do not blame the doctor. He/She is only doing what they know to do. You do what you should be doing.

You're right Neel...I was miserable and grumpy yesterday (but grateful that I was finally getting some relief)...today, so far, I can take a relatively deep breath with only minimal coughing. I think I'll be less grumpy now that I am getting some air into my body.

Well folks.. I just got off an emergency call with my doc.. looks like I'm off to the emergency room. Please say some prayers for me.. I've never been in the hospital before and I'm really upset right now.. but trying not to cry because it just makes my breathing worse..

Thanks ladies! I'm home! I was admitted Sunday night after spending the day in the ER. I'm much better, still not 100%.. but better. I had lost app. 50% of my lung capacity. So for the last few days, I've been poked, prodded, and stuff full of meds (steroids, antibiotics, cortisone, etc). The baby is fine- saw the OBs today and they even let me take a little peek on the ultrasound. So, a few more days of rest... lots of monitoring.. and we'll see where this goes. I'll be meeting with a pulmonary specialist at least until the end of my pregnancy. But, I'm happy to be home!!

Thanks for letting us know you are ok!!!!!! We were all thinking of you (well, I know Cyndi and I were...) and sending good vibes. I am so glad you are doing better. Now take Neel's good advice and REST. Your baby needs you more than the restaurant does.

This brings up an interesting point, which we discussed on another board a long time ago. We should let someone else know which boards we frequent and how to log on in case of an emergency. When Yogadancer was stuck in NYC on 9/11, it was really scary waiting for her to be able to contact us. Something to think about...

(((((((((HUGS for ML and baby))))))))))))
