Subject: The new tank..

Hey all,
Just wanted to post this silly picture of me in our new fish tank (empty, of course ) My husband is so excited about this- he's been saving/working towards it for a long time now. It's now being filled with water, has the beginnings of it's aquascaping, and will start it's cycling process. We will be combining our two other tanks into this one tank..... it's going to be great!!

Enjoy! Unfortunately, you can't see my baby belly too well in this shot...

Oh my, that's one HUGE tank! Hope it never breaks, it would cause a tsunami in your street *lol*.

I hope the 'mermaid' was released before your hubby filled the tank with water?!

When I click on the link, I get this message:

"We apologize the site you are attempting to visit has been blocked due to its content being inconsistent with the religious, cultural, political and moral values of the United Arab Emirates."

So either you're doing something really offensive in the picture or they have blocked the whole site

Do you want to sell your old tank?? I'm looking for a bigger fish tank. I am serious about this too.

Although....hmmm?? I would need it to be maybe 1/4 of the size of the new one,

Hi Jonathon,
Well, if she wasn't wearing any clothes it might be considered a bit fetishistic, to say the least
In fact, there's probably a website somewhere that caters for this. Go, Girl, go!
That's going to be a beautiful tank, by the way. When I was in Oz this summer, I went to an aquarium shop and they had a huge tank-about five feet high and ten feet long, which had me drooling.

That's actually refreshing... a state that tells you when it's censoring you :-)

To put you out of your misery, Jos is reclining on her side in her new, and otherwise empty, fish tank. She is fully clothed however, the Saudi's would object to the lack of proper hijab :-)

Yeah, Jonnie, nothing racy there.... my feet are showing though......
It's actually not a very flattering shot of me.. but nice of the tank. I look a little wasted in it. Hahahahaa

Cyndi- we will be breaking down and selling out 75G tank- as a complete system- sump, skimmer, hood, lights and all... probably sometime in Nov. I think that one is 4' long by 24"deep... I can measure it for you if you want. That's my hubby's world.

Oh yeah, I was released before the water started going in.... Although, I did tell my husband that swimming is a wonderful exercise for pregnancy! The corals may sting me though.. and my cowfish may bomb the tank (the one in my avatar).. he's got the capability of wiping out our entire tank. At least the small one. He'll be able to do damage in this tank.. but not wipe out every living creature. Hmmmmm.... maybe I won't go snorkeling at home... LOL

Although, on a side note, we've been following this thread on reef central where this guy is building his house from the ground up and planning for something nuts like a 10,000 or 15,000 gallon reef!! It's built into the foundation... and to do maintenance on it, he'll have to scuba dive into the tank... It's costing something like $200,000 just to set up!!! Be pretty cool, though, to scuba while watching a movie in your basement!! LOL

They're not called flippers, they're called 'fins'.

Only a friendly neighboud-hood pervert, as Marty Feldman said I have a business idea-Lots of aquariums, but filled with girls like Marina, Daryl Hannah in Splash, Ursula Andress in Dr. No, Kiera Knightley in that shark movie-wonder if this will get past your censors?
Mind you, another money-making idea I had yesterday, was Gucci dog poo bags for the fashionistas of Chelsea and Kensington-I reckon they would make a packet, maybe £10 for a box of five? .
On a similiar vein of embarrassing myself, on Wednesday, I was teaching a class, and I wanted to talk in some depth about pavritta trikonasana-so I said "I hate to bugger (meant to say bother) you all, but....," and then I stopped. There was a second's silence, and then the whole class erupted We had to stop for a couple of minutes. And then every so often during the class, someone would remember and start giggling, and everyone would know what they were giggling about. I hope this isn't the first signs of a late-onset tourette's syndrome

Hi, I think it may be Getting back to the subject, I'm rather fond of discus fish, and siamese fighting fish-they're amazing creatures-you can put a mirror in front of the aquarium, the male thinks it's another male, and starts to display-all its magnificient fins spread out, and it puffs out its gills-and it's really brightly coloured-they actually used to hold fights with them in Thailand-probably still do. They rip each others fins off, so the loser sinks-because they live in swamps, they take in oxygen by gulping air from the surface-so they run out of air and die-a novel way of ensuring that the genes of the strongest fish predominate the species. There's a lesson in there somewhere

Can I steal the idea of pregnantladiesinfishtanks.com?? I think we could make some money there!!!

Nick- there is a place in Miami that has mermaids- there are these girls who dress up like mermaids, breathe through air tubs and put on a show for the guests.... you might check it out sometime!!
and, BTW, I used to LOVE (ok, I still do love ) Splash! I always wanted to be a mermaid when I was little!!

zb- thanks! Everything is starting to pop out.. in fact, I went on a little spending spree because I was sick of not having any pants that fit! I'm still measuring my food out for my program and working with my nutritionist.. but my body/weight has a mind of it's own at this point.

Oh yeah, Nick- I am pretty impressed that you went from fish to sex so fast! That was nice! For freshwater tropicals- I like Discus fish too.. the Betta fish are cool too.. but I always feel bad that people keep them in such small bowls. Apparently it's fine for them though..

I blame the movie Splash (loved the movie, BTW) for so many poor little girls all named Madison, Maddison, Madisson, Madysyn, etc., etc., etc. Gag Please don't tell me you have that as a name choice, ML!

There is a restaurant at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht club called 'Aquarium' and another at the Burj Al Arab hotel (pictured) which both feature floor to ceiling aquariums. They are very impressive and also require scuba divers to clean them.
