You won't be so keen after you've heard him screaming at 3.00am Neel. I still can't understand how something so small can be sooooo LOUD!!

I had a screamer like that too. We called him the "sit and scream", as in the Sit-and-Spin and Close-and-Play (remember those?). He'd only be contented if he were held. Lay him down briefly only to change a diaper and he'd wail. Eventually he calmed down by about 4 months or so. He's 15 and a half now. Different screams these days. Jonnie, your Charlie is totally adorable. Enjoy him thoroughly!
| |||
why is he screamin' at 3 am? no house music? too much house music?
jonnie |
| ||
...No house music He wakes at 2.59 am and within 60 seconds has moved from complete silence to 'fog horn' mode. He shuts up the second we feed him though Those 3.00am feeds are the worst

My first daughter needed me to hold her in two arms and move like a swing for 2 hours each night. Later, she agreed with the rope swings and then became Gymnast. That helped me with Handstands!!! Screaming for that age comes from: a) boredom OR b) ache, generally in stomach or digestive track. jonnie - 2007-07-19 2:14 PM You won't be so keen after you've heard him screaming at 3.00am Neel. Breastfeeding Negative You should never question the sanctity of a mother's nurturing love and touch, there is no fatherly equivalent. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Hi Jonnie, He certainly looks like a handful! And in answer to your question, a baby's scream is automatically set to the exact pitch at which your ear is its most sensitive-absolutely brilliant! By being at its most annoying pitch, it can get the fastest response. The wonders of nature never cease to amaze me-and completely knacker you You obviously need to go on to phase two of the up-and-down rocking technique we already discussed-now add different shapes-as he get used to being swung around in one arc, introduce another, and watch the surprise and smile on his face. I hope Take care Nick

I hope Way ahead of you mate, I'm already doing that. The challenge is that even though he only weighs 5kg, after a few minutes my arms feel like they are going to fall off This is definately a technique that ZB and Marylisa should learn though as it works absolutely brilliantly every time. Location: London, England | Hi Jonnie, Ha! As I was writing, I thought you must be doing that already. And remember I told you your elbows were going to hurt Think of it as nature's little payback for not having to endure any of the birth process (I know, ladies, the payback's not equal ). And don't feed him as much I think its really nice for men to have tools like this-otherwise we feel a bit useless-the female has all the advantages in quieting a screaming child. Also, it's an activity which creates something like the bond that a mother has with its child-very important. Anyway, back to those elbows-if you had done what I told you to, ages ago, this wouldn't happening so soon Get those loops suspended just over the length of your arms away from the floor, lie on the floor face up, and do pull ups with your body in a straight line. If you like, you can raise your feet by putting them on a chair. Progressions include raising one leg or using one arm only. I have found this to very functional for the kinds of yoga that we are doing-core work, whilst extending the spine and hips and shoulders-all pre-requisites for lifting off the floor on your hands. If those progressions get too easy, put Charlie, and then your missus, on your chest. Then invite the neighbours around Nick

On the pull up movement, I assume the elbows/forearms should be parellel to the body (like a reverse chaturanga dandasana)? Cheers, Jonathon
