| Hi Friends,
Here is the Part 2 of Yoga Kundalini Upanishad that deals with Khechari Mudra.
Yoga Kundalini Upanishad - Part 2

Now detailing of science called Khechari. One who masters this science is freed from old age and death. Knower of this science should practice Khechari with firm mind. Thank you bipinjoshi, for the link.
Allow me to add, that a "firm mind" means a stable mind, free from afflictions and obscurations.
This is attained through practice and meditation.
Namaste,
Kaos

No. In Khechari Mudra, 'Firm Mind' does not mean the one which is free from afflictions and obscurtions. (With no offense, this is an example of mixing two logics.) The one who has a mind free from afflictions and obscurartions does not need to practice Khechari Mudra at all.
The firm mind in Khechari Mudra means the mind which shall have resolution never to deter from that practice until the goal is reached.
The most important part in KM is that the instruction must be obtained ONLY from a GURU who has himself mastered the KM, not one who knows about it. Also, KM is not for any and every student. Only a particular student will be given it by the master. |

Hi Kulkarnn,
I'm curious as to what "particular" student needs KM?

| Thankyou Bipin Joshi. Another very interesting article.
I practise Khechari Mudra regularly as part of Kriya Yoga.
We use tongue lengthening exercises with it to prepare the tongue.
Cutting the frenum lingui is considered quite controversial. Swami Sivananda recommended it for advanced students, though Sri Lahiri Mahasaya the teacher of Sri Yukteswar Giri who was Swami Yogananda's teacher was strongly against cutting it.
It is very powerful though.

No offense, but is KM necessary for others or just another obscuration for others?

| Dear Kaos: I am answering your two questions in one answer.
Particular student of KM is not the ONE who needs it, but the one who is eligible for such a practice. Not everyone is eligible for KM.
No, KM is not at all necessary for others or even that particular student. It is not necessary for anyone to do KM to realize. In fact, it should not be taught as an average instruction to common mass. And, that is what the respected Upanishad is telling, too.

That's nice to know.
Just a side note - Many times in Kriya Yoga students are asked simply to invert the tongue such that bottom part of the tongue touches the palate. This is not actually Khechari Mudra but another mudra called Nabho Mudra.

| That exactly is the problem with this. Khechari Mudra is to take the tounge in the space towards the upper skull. That is impossible without cutting the bottom portion of tongue. This advised for advanced student, meaning the one whose life is devoted only to such HathaYoga practice. Doing something in between shall give intermediate results. The same results are obtained simply by chanting.
