Hi Friends,

Yoga Kundalini Upanishad - I
=====================
Yoga Kundalini Upanishad belongs to Yajurveda and deals with Kundalini Yoga practices. Kundalini Yoga is considered as a practice of Tantric origin. Possibly during later period of fusion of Upanishadic and Tantric systems it got absorbed in Upanishads also. Without going into the debate of its origin it remains a fact that awakening the sleeping Kundalini marks a very important phase in the spiritual life of a seeker. The Yoga Kundalini Upanishad describes awakening of Kundalini in esoteric language just like many other ancient texts on the subject.

This note is for the Western students: Awakening of Kundalini as described in the Yogic texts should not be perceived in way we consider material physics, even though at times the descriptions are given in that way by the author to describe the phenomenon. Kundalini Yoga Practice has to be taken in the light of spiritual practice with other sanctity as a must foundation.

This is similar to: Yoga Exercise being done for physical benefits does not give the true meaning of Yoga.

Absolutely. The body is a platform for liberation and Self-Realization. Yoga is the harnessing of body, mind and spirit. Yoga being done solely for physical benefits does not serve it's full potential, since inevitably, the body will age and decay.

As the Tibetans say: "In the body of a goat, enjoy the grass."

Thank you for posting the link, bipinjoshi. Most appreciated.

Namaste

I like how this brings back the 'magic' of Yoga, in a very practical way
