Subject: ideas for ropes at home?

hi guys:

please share your ideas with me for setting up a single set of ropes - a set from above for ropes 1(for shoulder extension) or swinging ropes(from uttanasana to upward facing dog); and another from below for downdog on the ropes.

i don't wish to do anything that reuires that i tarnish the wall, so any creative ideas using doors, closets, windows, belts, snd ropes of course are welcome...

thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Sav.

I am telling you what I did: I took a professional carpenter to a place in Yoga Schools where they have such arrangement, asked him to do the same at my home studio and paid him to do that, and got it done. I am happy that I did this as my Ropes are Wonderful.

I don't use the knobs but DO use the strap looped over the door; with a BLOCK in the strap behind the door. This way it is safer. The block draws against the door as weight is applied. Make sure you are on the proper side of the door so that the tension pulles the door into the closed position.

I have used the door knobs at it is pretty safe for occasional use but the door swings around and it took a few times to get skilled. There is someone in the yoga magazines that advertises a block like Gordon is talking about so you can do sirsasana etc. using yoga straps and a door. A nice thick towel would do the trick as well and I have tried that once or twice., but I finally just drilled some holes in my walls and put up a set of ropes

Regular ole wood block will do. I've even done it with the foam blocks. Not as secure.

EMail me the picture and I shall attach it for you. Unless you want me to come to Greece, which I am prepared to do.

1. When can I do shavasana in the first room?
2. When can I do asanas in the second room?
3. Your ropes look like belts.

==1.& 2. Whenever you come to our country Neel, you are well come! (as long as we will be here)
3. Yes, they are belts made in Tibet and we bought them in India, in our teacher’s yoga centre. But I think similar kind of strong and wide belts (not that exotic and colourful…of course) can be found also in our western countries, cranes are using them when lifting big parcels.

Kristi's sling looks really cool. Here's a link for another sling:
