Subject: Avadhoota Upanishad

Hi Friends.
Here is another Upanishad...

Avadhoota Upanishad
===============
Avadhoota Upanishad is a small Upanishad consisting of 25 mantras. It falls under the category of Sanyasa Upanishads and is a part of Krishna Yajurveda. Avadhoota Upanishad takes the form of a dialog between Dattatreya and Rishi Samkriti and explains the nature of an Avadhoota. Avadhoota is an advanced stage of Sanyasa tradition. Avadhootas are known for their extreme detachment and constant oneness with the supreme reality.

Hi Bipinjoshi,

Thank you for this. It is very powerful and thought provoking.

I particularly like this quote:

"An Avadhoota is ever free from doubts and since he is always in union with the supreme reality he need not even meditate.

Meditation is for the people who are not yet one with God but an Avadhoota is always in the state of union and hence needs no meditation".

Thanks Bipiniji. I wish to add the following for those who are interested and might find it beneficial:

avadhootopanishad is the ultimate text on Advaita Vedanta result. Only brahman is reality and everything else is unreal whether it is good or bad.

avadhoota is a Result of Yoga Practice and is NOT a practice. One can not become avadhoot by practicing the qualities of avadhoota.

Meditation is a practice and therefore avadhoota does not need it as he/she has already obtained what is to be obtained from Meditation. However, it is must for a NON-avadhoota.

avadhoota means: dhoota - cleaned of, avadhoota - cleaned of all non-Brahman from its personality.

Even the avadhoota stays in non avadhoota state from time to time to help the general public. And, an avadhoota never recommends Yogis to become avadhoota until they have reached that state. In fact, avadhoota might advise their disciples to take a household or ordinary life to exchaust karma.
