Subject: lyrics for Jai Uttal

I want to use Jai Uttal's music in my class, but I also want to know what he's saying first. Does anyone know what he's chanting in the song "Mahadeva"? I have done a search for his lyrics, but I can't find them. I'm hoping somone can tell what he's saying just by listening, then possibly interpret?

He is singing Kirtan which is Hindu devotional hymns.

Mahadeva is another name for Shiva

Mahadeva - The Supreme Lord : Maha = great, Deva = God - more often than not, the Aghora (fierce) version

I do not know the lyrics to this particular Kirtan but whatever they are, they are about giving devotion to Lord Siva.

Om Shanti,
Ravi

Dear Ravi,

You are correct, he is singing to Shiva.

The complete translation of the kirtan is:

"Victory to Shiva, the God of destruction, and transformation, the embodiment of auspiciousness, the remover of ignorance".
