Subject: worried about my best friend.

My best friend NEVER has her period, and we are both worried, so I told her I would ask you guys. She has it once MAYBE every 3 months.
She is very unhealthy, and drinks ALOT of sodas. I think maybe her eating habits and lifestyle has something to do with it. She dosnt sleep well, stayig up till5 am and sleeping till3. I mean thtats gotta affect you in some way. do you guys think her unhealthy lifestyle could be affecting it?

Tell her to tell her parents (or her mom, at least). Your friend should get checked out by a doctor. Tell your friend to write down her list of "complaints" so she can have them with her when she sees the doctor. This way your friend won't accidently forget to mention a health concern, especially if it is a seemingly minor health issue. Also, this helps the doctor streamline his or her time with the patient.

Best of luck -

I agree with Fifi, and I hope your friend will see a specialist, an OB/GYN. As you probably know, they specialize with the female body and organs. My periods are wild on the pill and normal off the pill. Lots of things can trigger weird periods- stress, hormones, etc. Don't be afraid to talk to your parents-it was hard for me, my dad was an OB/GYN! Seeing the doc will put any un-necessary worries to rest.

Hi! I also have a cousin who has the same problem. I think we now have a solution. Thanks for your inputs.

for some people, this is a 'normal' cycle and it's perfectly appropriate. a number of my friends have long fertility cycles.

for others, it is a problem, and there are a variety of ways of solving that problem. in addition to medical help, i recommend reading and practicing the information found in Katie Singer's Garden of Fertility. there is a lot of great information in there about how to heal (with and without medical help).

What I think is: She and all her friends should forget about her Period Problem. And, only focus on improving her habits to healthy habits. Once that is done for a prolonged time, say at least 1 to 2 years, they should think about the period and such.

I would see it as a blessing in disguise! A doctor opinion should definetly be takin into consideration. Some women just continuously have irregular schedules with that; me being one of those.
