I am wondering:

What is this vertical line in the middle of Mr. Iyengar's forehead ?
Does it indicate or symbolize something ?
Or is it just decorative ?

Yes, but his tilak is of a particular sort.  I believe that this form is specific to Vaishnavites, although I'm not sure of the details of his variation. Does anyone know?

Thanks, this seems to get there. I knew that his family deity, or Ishtadevi, is an avatar of Vishnu, as this confirms. I'm not sure of the specific name for it, however. If Brother Neel were around, I'm sure he could tell us.
