I am curious, what is everyone's favorite yoga pose, if you have to pick ONE?

Shoulderstand. For 7 minutes or so. Its calming effect on the mind is something I appreciate every day. It is easier on my neck than headstand, so yes, shoulderstand it is

Dear Ana Maria: Shoulderstand is one of the most important HathaYoga poses. It is called Mother of Asanas whereas the Headstand is the father. However, to do shoulderstand for 7 min, one must develop it slowly and correctly. I appreciate your doing it.

Another reply to this fav poll is ok

I like Viparita Dandasana best! I like the feeling of the thoracic region being "opened up" cos' the feeling liberates my mind and body!

just ONE?!?!

i'd have to go with janu sirsasana these days. it's so challenging, but when i really nail it, it is sublime...

maybe we could list our favorite of each type of pose (standing poses, forward bends, seated poses, backbends and inversions). i just like making lists...so i'll do it!

standing: parivritta trikonasana (with blocks)
forward bend: janu sirsasana (seated on blanket, blanket under knee)
seated: gomukhasana (seated, very carefully)
backbend: urdhva dhanurasana
inversion: sirsasana

granted this is a silly thing to make a list of, but i've made sillier lists.
and also granted, there is some overlap in these poses (you do janu sirsasana seated, eh?)
but lets hear it people!

I've tried to answer this question before, it's sooo hard to choose, but I think I finally have an answer: My favorite pose is the one I'm in at the moment. It's a cop out, I know.

To All:- My favourite poses, not pose are three in number. Starting with Sarvangasana, otherwise called as "The candle Shoulder Stand" for five minutes, I go to Halasana or " The plough" pose for two minutes, then to the counter posture for the preceding two asanas namely Matsyasana or "The Fish" pose for one minute. This takes in all eight minutes for me and I do it at a stretch for the last so many years. Thanks..
