Has anyone attended the classes run by Guruji's team in Pune, India? If yes, wld you kindly share with me how I may join his classes. That is because it seems the terms and conditions to attend his classes if you're a foreigner is a tall order.

I practice mainly vinyasa yoga with a teacher who relies on the Iyengar tradition but she isn't an Iyengar certified teacher.

I can choose to attend Shri Pattabhi Jois' classes in Mysore but prefer Iyengar's if given a choice.

Thank you!

I have not been to RIMYI but I am scheduled to go Oct of 2008..the soonest I could get a spot! Check this website for information about attending the institute. http://www.iynaus.org/IyengarYoga/RIMYI/RIMYI.aspx Basically, you must be an iyengar student for 8 years and be recommended by an Iyengar teacher. Practitioners from all over the world are wanting to attend and there are only 100 spots per month, so they want people who know something about the tradition.

In Canada we apply through our national assn. It does take some time to get in (usually, but sometimes you get an early date unexpectedly) and you don't always get much choice in what time of year you go. Most of our local teachers go every couple of years and apply again immediately as soon as they get back. It is good to know someone else who has been there to get contacts on places to stay and places to eat etc. And be prepared for some intense smog and air pollution.
