Subject: Yoga and back pain info?

Hi,

I was just reading an interesting post on back pain from someone on the site. I'm doing some research on products relating to DVD and backpain.

If there was something you wanted to know about yoga or back pain what would it be?

My own suggestion would be a book complementing the DVD/video explaining further on the topic that I could use as a reference. Would you find that useful or would you care? What would you like get when you buy Yoga DVD, what are your expectations if you have any?

Have your expectations been met when you've bought instruction dvd's before?

I'm trying to get a feel for what people like and dislike.

Thanks for your help,
With respect,
Dave

I have only been doing yoga a year and a half, so I am still sort of new. But I use Yoga DVDs and I would personally like to see more instruction of poses for the beginners. Like how to position your wrists in certain poses (upward facing dog, downward facing dog, plank) Also where your legs and feet should be in certain poses. I think that would be a great start

I prefer books myself. My favourite book for backs is Back Care Basics by Mary Pullig Shatz. I think most students want to know how to be safe in the poses and how to modify for safety and comfort. This is what I am getting for most of my students, anyway.

Hi,

I've put together some information for people
with back pain including a couple of interviews
(one with an instructor and one with a girl who
used Yoga as part of her rehabilitation after
breaking her back).

I mentioned it in a post
elsewhere that I was going to do a podcast
but for now you can access the interviews and
information free at
http://yogabackhelp.com/introduces/HelpWithBackPain .

I'm not sure if my signature is working,
sorry if you're seeing the link twice.

I plan to grow the site so if you have any back pain related problems, feel free to visit.

Kind regards,

Dave
