Subject: looking for backless chair

I've been searching all over the web for a backless chair. Does anyone know where I can purchase one? The only sites I've found are for stores in the UK. I'd rather not pay for international shipping (I'm in NE US).

aaron - what exactly are you looking for? Do you want a chair seat without the back for using at a desk or are you wanting a "yoga chair" for doing backbends etc.? The easiest way to get a backless folding chair for yoga is to buy a standard metal folding chair from an office supply store and take the back off yourself. It is pretty easy.

I realized after I posted that I was unclear about what I was looking for. I'm wanting a standard metal folding chair without that metal piece along the back. The kind they have at most iyengar studios.

So, it's easy to remove the back yourself? Seems like kind of a pain. Tourist...have you done it yourself?

Many a time, my friend! You can bash it out with a big hammer - great for working out aggressions But when we did a whole pile of them for our studio we found we could break the welds with a screwdriver and just pry them off. a quick sanding to take the welds down to smooth and, if you are feeling fancy, a touch up with metal paint I actually have a small chair from a card table set (2nd hand store find) that had a back that was screwed on so it was very simple to remove.

I love the Salubrion seat at that site, Cyndi - very cool and uber-moderne Might make a good seat for preschool teachers!

They make custom ones in aus for 80 bucks and they have a back bending attachement for supported backbends. They are also very strong. Dont know if they can be sourced in the US though.

Yes, I've seen those. Great for tall people. The basic office chair is one of the few things in this workd that fit me perfectly. Only for yoga, of course. If I sit in them normally, my feet don't touch the ground

Are you thinking of buying best office chairs? This is a good idea if you are setting up office so you should buy AMALFI, QUINTO, RIALTO chairs the design also steals the classic lawn-chair look, with its slatted construction towards these chairs are reproduction of CHARLES EAMES so i think we should not worry about quality and reliable

Try to find it at eBay or Amazon.
