Yoga -> Yoga as Self-Realization | Message format |
shannon |
| ||
All nondual teachings are based on the premise that the true nature of a human being is consciousness. Ask "Who am I?" in the tradition of self-inquiry. In Yoga, Self-realization is knowledge of one's true self. Share quotes from favorite teaches such as the Buddha, Nisargadatta, Ramana, Adyashanti, Gangiji, Neelam, Byron Katie and Eckhart Tolle that inspire. You are invited to lovingly discuss these aspects of spirituality. Welcome!

Expert Yogi Posts: 8442 | Hi Shannon - looks like a shiny new forum here! How about a little bio or something so we can get to know you. I'll bet this will be a busy one

Glenda! Shannon's our high priestess here and only through her and Victor's kind allowance do we have this site to cavort around: http://www.yoga.com/ydc/corporate/corporate_document.asp?ID=229§ion=11&cat=189 Edited by Bruce 2006-01-27 4:56 PM

Yoga is a method for doing a practice which takes one to the realization of the Nonduality. The nature of self enquiry 'Who Am I' is extremely difficult for a common man, and is confusing in many ways at later stages. Yoga provides variety of ways of reaching the true self depending on the person's nature. All the ways in Yoga without any single exception are detailed in only one book in a comprehensive way, and that is Shreemad Bhagavadgita. In fact, the self enquiry itself is one method from Yoga itself. Peace

LOL! None of this high priestess stuff, Bruce. I am a fellow yoga practitioner interested in non duality teachings. That is all.

Expert Yogi Posts: 8442 | Hey Bruce - I recognized the name but hadn't seen it around for awhile. Nevrtheless, there will be many who don't know Shannon at all so it would be nice to get some sort of idea of who is running the joint PS - I can't get the link to work Edited by tourist 2006-01-27 6:14 PM

I can't get the link to work either. I'm also not sure what seperates this forum from the Philosophy and Religion.

Well nuts, the link isn't working for me either now so... Shannon Brophy Shannon co-founded the Roots & Wings website, as well as the yoga.com website. Beloved Brother Neel--the only philosophies I ever understood was Kant and I believe the Bhagavadgita--so I get ya mate. kulkarnn - 2006-01-27 4:35 PM Yoga is a method for doing a practice which takes one to the realization of the Nonduality. Expert Yogi Posts: 5098 Location: Somewhere in the Mountains of Western NC | I just wanted to chime in here and say hello and Namaste` Shannon. Best wishes in starting this new forum, I can't wait to read the interesting quotes. I'll start one, it's one of my favorites even though I can't figure out who the author is... "For reasons we cannot know Happiness and Inner Peace Depend upon our relationship To Beauty To Gratitude To Love And to the Service Of Something Greater Than the Self" ~~Author Unknown~~

...if yoga is about finding non-duality with yourself, and i am a gemini which is a duality based sign ( or whatever ), does this mean im going to have to work twice as hard to gain non-duality? or is it like a cancelling effect ( think double negatives... ) ???? thats quite the interesting thought....i reckon

Sideshow: The effect of signs such as gemini is limited to the bodily matters. If one is doing a true Yoga Practice (with mind involved), then the effect of signs on body does not affect mind. And, therefore, signs has NOHING to do with spiritual practice. But, with apology, I do not wish to get into astrology.

Expert Yogi Posts: 5098 Location: Somewhere in the Mountains of Western NC | SS, it's okay my Mother was a Gemini. I just always knew I had to deal with 2 people. I would have to get know them both and then deal with them, whichever one appeared. What was really a challenge was when they both were present at once, Once they labeled my Mother as having a Bipolar disorder...I couldn't convince the Doctors what her real situation was...they wouldn't hear of it, Thanks for telling us that there are 2 of you...now I know how to respond to you better,

Hey Piel; Can you knock this guy (sdfsdf) off the froum and get rid of his spam. It's always a spammer who ruins the moment. By the way how does he get to have that magenta tone to his screen name?
Jambo |

Yogis: Don't' click on the links from sdfsdf. It directs you to a fake Google page. Looks like a true hack to me.

This thread appears to be unmoderated. You can post to it without logging in. It probably needs to have a setting changed.

I think this whole forum (ie realization) is unmoderated.

BTW, I clicked on one of those insurance thingy's...nothing happened that I can tell. In fact, I recall now, nothing happened at all. Oh well. It might be an attempt to influence Google's page rank system to increase the spammer's listing level.

>So, care to share the secret code to the name color change??? Log yourself off, top of forum page, then go back to the forum and Post Reply. You'll see a place to type a name. After posting, you'll see it's purple. Hum, maybe an enhancement to this site can be to change the color of the names....

Hey that is pretty cool. I learned something cool today. Now, I want to be this color all the time,

C-I agree with you. Sometimes it hard being 'blue' all the time.
