| Can anyone recommend a good book on Patanjali's Yoga Sutras? I am familiar with the sutras but I would like a book that would be a good reference and easy to understand. |

TKV Desikachar's Heart of Yoga is a really nice introduction to the
philosophy and practice of yoga. It does not get into sutra-by-sutra analysis
but it does develop the ideas and their application to one's life. I love that
book.

| Hello,
My favourite books are "Yoga Philosophy of Patanjali" by Swami Hariharananda Aranya and "Patanjali's Yoga Sutras" by Rama Prasada. Both of them are very are very well-written and practical, in extremely classical style. The first includes Vyasa's commentary, the second both Vyasa's and Vacaspati Misra's. These are only interested if you like this type of classical commentary,
Regards. |

| Have you tried Amazon? They have a fairly impressive selection of yoga books.

I'll try that, but they often have trouble with things that don't come from
relatively established publishers (which is often true of the best yoga titles). |

| I know I've seen Sivananda's treatment of Patanjali on the UK site so hears hoping you'll be pleasantly surprised.
