Subject: Prayer request

For those of you who pray, I'd like to request prayers for my grandmother, Eleanore - she's nearly 88 and has been living with congestive heart failure for a couple of years.  It got bad in December and we thought we'd lose her - I'm so glad I got to see her then!  (She lives 1,500 miles away from me...)  But she rallied and pulled through.

Now she fell and broke her hip and had to have emergency surgery with a metal plate & screws put in.  She's so very frail... and she had a "mild" heart attack during surgery.  Still she came through, though she is in a lot of pain, even with the morphine.  It just kills me that she's suffering.  I don't know how long she can go on like this, and while I don't want her to suffer, I am selfish and don't want to lose her either.

So if you are inclined to pray, in any fashion, I would thank you for praying for my grandma!

Namaste,

Echo

Dear Echo,

I hope that your grandmother will be well, and I also hope that you will have
the chance to enjoy her company while she is with you in this life. All of my
grandparents passed on some time ago, and my wife recently lost the last of hers.
I still cherish the memories of mine...I keep a photograph of one grandfather
above my bed, beside Nataraja, and I have drawings by my grandmother, as well.
I believe that the old ones never really leave us so long as we remember them.
So store up your memories...give her a call or go see her...you will not regret it.

Thank you, BG - I think you're absolutely right.  This is my last living grandparent, and the one I was always closest to, so... I know you understand!

Interesting - I also have pics of my grandparents over my bed, and I swear I sometimes feel the presence of my paternal grandmother, who passed on several years ago.

I think we must always treasure one another, because we never know what tomorrow will bring!

Bless you for your kind words - they comfort me!
Echo

Thank you, Down Dog (interesting handle - I'm guessing you just like that pose?! )

I just spoke to her on the phone & she's doing pretty well, all things considered - leaving the hospital tomorrow to go back to the nursing home, though she will need a lot of physical therapy to be able to walk again.

I appreciate all your kind thoughts & prayers!

Namaste,

Echo

Thank you, Fraise.   She's doing a little better now but still unable to walk & having a lot of pain.  I appreciate your prayers!

Sorry to hear this Echo.

My father suffered a similar break about a year after his stroke.

Give your grandma plenty of encouragement regarding her physio as this is definitely one of those times where 'no pain, no gain' applies. She'll get the best recovery if she can work through all the difficulties as the exercises are designed to ensure that the tissues heal around the hip in the correct alignment. In fact, if you get a look at the exercise sheet she'll be given, I think you'll find a lot is very, very familiar to you as a yogini
