| Hello,
i am new to this forum, but i had a really interesting question about getting a massage. My friend went to a massage therapist today and had a massage. The MT asked her is she could massage her butt? Now is that standard practice from a masseuse? Or is there something wrong with that?

| The muscles in the buttocks are very strong and often contribute to hip, lower back and leg problems. It is very common to need to work on that area. It was good for the therapist to ask, especially if this was your friend's first experience with massage. |

| Yes, massaging the buttocks is totally normal. Of course, if the client is not comfortable with being touched in that area, he/she should say so, and the therapist should not touch it. There are so many chronic problems that stem from that area, it would be a shame to pass it up! Most people don't know how tight that area is until it's massaged. When I was in massage school, I used to go to class begging everyone to massage my butt, lol! It's great!
