Namaste.

I am a yoga instructor in Santa Monica, CA. I am looking to instruct some classes. Does anyone have any leads on openings? I am well-experienced and certified.

When you say you are certified you are telling people that you do not know much about yoga. There is not a national certification in yoga. You might get better responses by listing the type of yoga you have experience teaching or have studied.

Congratulations on your certification. You are well on your way to a wonderful career. Teaching yoga is awesome and I love it. Places to suss out: Primarily the gyms are a good place to start: Bally, Crunch etc. The nearest Y. also, try and volunteer once a week at an organization you feel strongly about. I got an excellent paying contract with someone who I met while volunteering. Also, see if you canm do lectures or one day wellness events at any corporate offices near you. Try not to fret about money, you will find some well paying jobs and some terrible paying jobs, in all evens itself out. Also try churches and community centres. And local college & University Athletic centres. You may need to get insurance, to teach at some places but it';s well worth it.

Good luck with this, and please keep us posted.

You may have to rely on books for now, and develop a home practice. Information about pre-natal yoga keeps changing, so try and find a book that is up to date. Make suer to tak eit easy. Keep grounded, avoid twisting postures and balancing postures.

Congratulations on your pregnancy . when are you expecting?

Thank you-

I've been teaching for many years, and currently, if you do not say you are certified, it is presumed you do not have any experience. Thank you for your advice. namaste

Thank you, Mary.

I have received the same advice out here in LA, and find it frustrating. I worked for Bally's and other rec places and find it can be very unprofessional. I do teach already in the educational field. I am not looking to pick up some more privates and get into a studio.

Thank you for the advice! Namaste.

HI I work at Bally's as well. which is very frustrating as it pays very little,
and since they won't do direct deposit...but I have met some great people and have gained some excellent experience. And I'm lucky as my manager is fantastic and an all around terrific human being.
