I'm really struggling with asthma and have been told that yoga has some specific excercises that really work. Does anyone know what they are?

Hi Lois,

There is a book written by Donna Farhi on breathing techniques called 'The Breathing Book:
Good Health and Vitality Through Essential Breath Work' which has information on 'safe and easily learned techniques to treat asthma'. You can find more information about this book and others at Yoga.com by clicking 'Yoga', than catalogue followed by books all on the Yoga.com homepage.

I hope you will continue to look into yoga as a helpful method for asthma. I had asthma for many many years and yoga has almost cured me of it. I rarely ever use medication. I have practiced yoga for 12 years and am now an instructor. There is not just one or two poses that would help you. It all would. Especially the breathing exercises. If you would like to learn more you can find a wonderful article on a past issue of Yoga Journal called Breathing Lessons by a famous instructor who helped her own severe asthma. Write to me if you have any questions. f you can find a qualified teacher I would recommend starting with a class. Good luck to you!

I have been studying yoga almost two years intensely. My asthma is gone, colds are rare, the postures and the breathing are key! So is meditation for relaxation
