Extreme Veteran Posts: 491 | The Messenger of Allah possesses many manifest miracles and signs demonstrating [his veracity], reaching thousands and they are well known. From amongst them was the Qur'an, the manifest and clear miracle and brilliant proof, falsehood cannot approach it from before it or behind it. It is a revelation from One Who is All-Wise and Praiseworthy. It incapacitated the most eloquent of people in the most eloquent of times to produce a single chapter than would be comparable to it, even if the whole of creation were to gather for that purpose. Allah, the Exalted, says: "Say: if the whole of mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like of it, even if they assisted each other." [Al-Qur'an 17:88] It challenged them to this despite their large numbers, their eloquence and their severe enmity, and it challenges them to this day. As for the other miracles, it is not possible to enumerate them all due to their huge number and renewing and increasing nature. I will mention some examples: The splitting of the moon, water flowing from between his fingers, increasing the quantity of food and water, the glorification of the food, the palm tree yearning for him, stones greeting him, the talking of the poisoned leg [of roasted sheep], trees walking towards him, two trees that were far apart coming together and then parting again, the barren [and therefore dry] sheep giving milk, his returning the eye of Qatadah ibn an-Nu'man to its place with his hand after it had slipped out, his splitting lightly into the eye of 'Ali when it had become inflamed and its being cured almost immediately, his wiping the leg of 'Abdullah ibn 'Atiq whereupon he was immediately cured. His informing of the places of death of the polytheists on the Day of Badr saying, "this is the place of such-and-such a person." His informing of his killing Ubayy ibn Khalaf, that a group of his nation would traverse an ocean and 'Umm Haram would be amongst them and this occurred. That all was drawn together for him of the ends of the earth and displayed to him would be opened for his nation, that the treasures of Chosroes would be spend by his nation in the Way of Allah, the Mighty and Magnificent. That the Muslims would fight the Turks who were described as having small eyes, wide faces and small, chiselled noses and that Yemen, Syria and Iraq would be conquered by the Muslims. He informed us that the Muslims would comprise three armies, an army in Syria, an army in Yemen and an army in Iraq. That they would conquer Egypt, a land whose [unit of land measurement] was the Qirat, they they should deal with their people well for they have protection [being Copts] and ties of kinship [through Hajar]. That Aways al-Qarni would come to you from the auxiliaries of Yemen, he would be affected with leprosy and it would be healed except for the space of a dirham, and he indeed arrived during the rule of 'Umar. He informed us that a group of his nation would always be upon the truth and that mankind would become many in number and that the 'Ansar would diminish in number and that the 'Ansar would not be given their due [with regards distribution of wealth and leadership]. That mankind would keep on asking questions until they would say, "Allah created the creation ..." [Referring to the hadith, "the people will continue asking until they say, 'this is Allah who created everything ... but who created Allah?' " Reported by al-Bukhari [no.7296] and Muslim [no.136]] He informed us that Ruwayfi' ibn Thabit would live a long life, that 'Ammar ibn Yasir would be killed by the transgressing group, that this nation shall divide into sects and that they would fight each other. He said to Thabit bin Qays, "You will live being praised ... and you will die as a martyr." and he lived being praised and was martyred at al-Yamamah. He said about 'Uthman, "He would afflicted by a severe trial." [The meaning of severe trial is his being imprisoned in his house and his being killed by transgressors.] He said about a person amongst the Muslims who had just fought a severe fight that, "He would be from amongst the denizens of the Fire." and later he committed suicide. Wabisah ibn Ma'bad came to him in order to ask him about righteousness and sin upon which he asked, "Have you come to ask about righteousness and sin?" He said to 'Ali, az-Zubayr and al-Miqdad, "Go to the garden of Khakh for indeed there is Dha'inah{qluetip title=[1]}This is the woman with whom Hasib al-Balta'ah radiallahu 'anhu sent a letter to the people of Makkah in order to inform them of the plans of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam to fight them. It was concerning this that the first verses of Surah Mumtahinah were revealed. The garden of Khakh is a place falling between Makkah and Madinah. Refer to al-Bukhari [no.3983] and Muslim [no.2494] and Tafsir ibn Kathir [4/344].{/qluetip} who has a book with her." They found her there but she initially denied having the book and then took it our from within her braids. He said to Abu Hurayrah, when Satan had stolen some dates, "indeed he shall return ... " and he did. He said to his wives, "The most prolific of you in giving charity will be the quickest of you to join me," and it was so. [Zaynab bint Jahsh radiallahu 'anha was the most prolific of them in giving charity and was the first to die. Refer to Muslim [no.2452].] He said to 'Abdullah bin Sallam, "You will remain upon Islam until you die." He supplicated for 'Anas that his wealth and sons increase and that he should live a long life and it was so. He lived for more than one hundred years and not one of the 'Ansar was richer than he and one hundred and twenty of his children had been buried before the arrival of al-Hajjaj [to Basrah]. This is detailed further in Sahih al-Bukhari [no.1982] and others. He sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam supplicated that Islam be strengthened through 'Umar ibn al-Khattab or Abu Jahl, and Allah strengthened it through 'Umar radiallahu 'anhu. He supplicated against Suraqah ibn Malik and the feet of his horse sank into the earth and he was thrown off, he called out asking for safe conduct and was granted it, then he asked the Prophet to make a supplication for him. He supplicated that Allah remove feeling the bitter cold and heat from 'Ali and so never did he feel cold or hot. He supplicated for Hudhayfah, the night that he sent him to spy on the Confederates, that he not feel the cold and he did not until he had returned. He supplicated for Ibn 'Abbas that Allah grant him understanding of the religion and it was so. He supplicated against 'Utaybah ibn Abi Lahab that Allah cause a dog from amongst His dogs to overcome him and he was killed by a lion at az-Zarqa'. He sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam supplicated for the descent of rain when they asked him to at the time of drought, there was not a single cloud in the sky, then when he had supplicated, the clouds gathered like mountains and it rained until the next Friday. It rained so much they they had to come back and ask him to supplicated and stop the rain, so he supplicated and the rain stopped and they out into the glaring sun. He supplicated for Abu Talhah and his wife, 'Umm Sulaym, that he bless them in the night they had spent together and she became pregnant and gave birth to 'Abdullah. He had nine children and all of them were scholars. He sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam supplicated for the mother of Abu Hurayrah radiallahu 'anhu that she be guided and Abu Hurayrah left to find her performing the ritual bath because she had accepted Islam. He supplicated for 'Umm Qays bint Muhsin, the sister of 'Ukkashah, that she live a long life and we do not know of another woman who lived as long as she did. This was reported by an-Nasa'i in the chapter concerning washing the deceased. On the Day of Hunaun he threw a handful of dirt at the disbelievers and said, "May the faces be disfigured," and Allah, the Exalted, vanquished them, filling their eyes with dirt. Extreme Veteran Posts: 491 | Death is often a frightening thought, but one that we should not be scared of. When you truly understand death you will no longer have to be scared of it. When we are able to understand that Allah (SWT) made this Dunya (Arabic for the temporal world) a test for the believers and that this is not our real home; you will truly be able to find peace within your heart. You think that death is scary, but this Dunya is scarier. The reality of this Dunya is that we often excuse our poor behaviour of the neglection of Allah (SWT) due to our worldly responsibilities. You may be thinking well what will happen after death in Islam . In Islamic tradition, the following is what occurs after an individual passes away. The occurrence is not always as you may expect, and it can strike you at any time whether you like it or not. Allah (SWT) sends his angel Azreal, known as the angel of death, to retrieve the soul from the human. After Allah (SWT) has instructed Azreal (AS) to take your soul, you are then declared dead in the world of the Dunya. “Allah takes the souls at the time of their death.” 39:42, Holy Quran After you have died, your family and Muslim community will conduct your Ghusl (full-body ritual purification) and then proceed to your Janazah (funeral prayer) which is a part of the Islamic funeral rituals. After this and many prayers, your body is then buried six-foot underground, alone and by itself. After some time in your grave, you are then visited by two angels, known as Munkar and Nakir. They are assigned to test the faith of those dead within their graves. When they arrive, they sit you up in your grave and ask you the following: “Who is your Lord? Who is your Prophet? And what is your faith?”. When this is completed, you have been determined to either rest in peace until the day of judgement or you are severely punished by the angels until Allah (SWT) determines otherwise, until the day of resurrection. You will have now entered the stage of Barzakh, the veil or barrier which stands between two things that are not able to meet. You can easily interpret this stage as a waiting period until the day of judgement, a separation between the living and the hereafter. “That I might do righteousness in that which I left behind. No! It is only a word he is saying, and behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected.” – (23:100) the Holy Quran. The stage of Barzakh is a world similar to this world, but different. The treatment and style of living they receive with the inter-space of Barzakh is a reflection of their deeds and actions performed in the Dunya. It is believed that if the individual was a firm and devout servant of Allah (SWT), they are expected to receive many pleasures during this middle stage. If they have committed many sins or are kafirs (disbelievers), they will face a hard time during this stage. When Allah (SWT) commands this stage to be over, the day of resurrection will arrive and all of Allah's (SWT) creations will be brought before him to be judged. Day of Judgement (Qiyamah) It is not known to man when the day of judgement will occur, however, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has told us the signs which will occur in preparation for this day. There are many minor and major signs which will indicate that the time is near. The most well-known of them will be the appearance of the Dajjal (False-Messiah) and the return of Prophet Isa (Jesus) (AS). The day, which will last 50,000 years, is a day in which Muslims spend their whole lives preparing for. All of mankind will come bearing the book of what they did within their lives; all their sins and good deeds will be judged by the ultimate judge. The day of resurrection is the final test all of creation will have to face before they reach their final destination for eternity, whether that be hell or heaven. In Islam, we believe that we will all be resurrected according to the way we lived and the way we died. Whether that be in good deeds or sins, Allah (SWT) will bring you back to that state. We pray that Allah (SWT) makes our journey across the Sirat (bridge) to paradise easy and prevents us from falling into the fires of hell. Extreme Veteran Posts: 491 | Allah says in the Quran what means : {Glory be to Him Who made His servant to go on a night from the Sacred Mosque to the remote mosque of which We have blessed the precincts, so that We may show to him some of Our signs; surely He is the Hearing, the Seeing.} (Al-Israa' 17:1) There is no doubt that Al-Isra (the night journey) followed by Al-Miraj (the heavenly ascension) was one of the miracles in the life of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). According to the most accepted view, it happened on the 27th of Rajab, the seventh month of the Hijri calendar, in the tenth year of Muhammad's prophethood. It is reported in Hadith literature, that the Messenger of Allah was carried from the Sacred Mosque in Makkah to the "Farthest Mosque" (Al-Masjid al-Aqsa) in Jerusalem on a creature called Al-Buraq in the company of the archangel Gabriel (peace be upon him). There he led a congregational prayer of the prophets of God. Then Gabriel took him to the heavens where he met the prophets Adam, John, Jesus, Idris, Aaron and Moses (peace be on them all). In the seventh heaven, he met Abraham (peace be on him). He was then brought to the Divine Presence. The details of this encounter are beautifully detailed in the beginning of surat An-Najm (52). Prayer: God-given Gift During this time, Allah ordered for his nation fifty daily Prayers. But on the Prophet's return, he was told by Prophet Moses (peace be on him) that his followers could not perform fifty Prayers. Thus, he went back and eventually it was reduced to five daily Prayers. After this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned to Makkah on the same night itself. Therefore, Muslims should be thankful to Allah for this gift. They should take care of it and never neglect it. It is the thing that allows the Muslim to communicate with the creator five times as day. Time and Space Are Not Bound for Allah One major lesson of that miraculous event, was that space and time which are bound by laws of nature for humans, are not so bound for Allah. On that night prophet Muhammad bridged time and space and this world, traveling to the heavens by Allah's will. I believe that for those who study philosophy the abstract as well as the symbolic implications of the event might be very stimulating indeed. The gap between the reality of this life and that of the life to come simply diminished. This is illustrated by the Prophet's encounter with other prophets who were long since dead as far as we normally think of it but who, in reality, live as beings in a different form somewhere else. The implications of the night journey cannot be overstated. The miraculous nature of the Prophet's journey established his divine-stated legitimacy as the seal of all prophets. Allah brought him to Him to show us his true worth in the sight of Allah. All religious traditions share the concept of miracles, that is, something that defies logic, nature, or the established constitution and course of things. We will limit our discussion to legitimate miracles from Allah, which are by definition the only true miracles. When the forces of disbelief are strong, typically the prophetic miracles that oppose them are stronger. Prophet Moses was given several miracles, which included his staff that turned into a massive snake and culminated in his parting of the Red Sea, as a divine response to the extreme infidelity of Pharaoh. Similarly, Prophet Jesus was given even the power to raise the dead, in order to establish his legitimacy before the Jews who would ultimately condemn him to death for blasphemy. Nevertheless, his miracles were undeniable by their nature, and it was only the obstinacy and arrogance of the people to whom he was sent that enabled them to deny him. Muhammad's night journey was obviously not easy for the pagan Makkans to believe. Nevertheless, the Prophet proved it logically by describing the approaching caravans that he overtook on his miraculous return. Thus, this particular prophetic miracle not only established the Prophet's eminence for Muslims as discussed above, but it also helped to prove his prophethood to the non-believers of his time. Celebrating the Event As far as the Muslims are concerned, there is no particular celebration, fast or prayer to commemorate Al-Isra and Al-Miraj. But in some places, the Muslims themselves have started to have commemorative functions, where the story of the night journey is told in poetry or lectures. While the Prophet himself did not establish these practices, there are scholars who maintain that gatherings meant to remind the Muslims of the importance of Al-Miraj in the history of Islam, or to remind us of the importance of love for the Prophet and the significance of the city of Jerusalem, are permissible. Extreme Veteran Posts: 491 | The prophet peace be upon him says: (day of resurrection will not come till money increases between you ... 1 - Prophet Mohamed peace be upon him told us about many signs for the imminence of day of resurrection as he said: (one of these signs is that money will increase and trade will increase) [Narrated by Al-Nasaei] today, trade became the backbone of the world economy. That wasn't known at the time of the prophet when trade was known but agriculture was the most famous activity. Who told our prophet about that? 2 - The prophet said that day of resurrection will not come till: (husband obeys his wife and to be impious to his mother and turns away from his father) {Narrated by Al-Termizi}, today courts are full of cases between parents and sons and daughters because of the impiety of those sons and daughters ....... that wasn't known at the time of the prophet. Researchers confirm that the phenomenon of impiety is increasing which is a clear evidence that day of resurrection is near. The question is, who told our prophet about that? 3 - The prophet peace be upon him says: (day of resurrection will not come till money increases between you) {narrated by Al-Bukari}, today we can see there are a lot of money between people so that we can find some people who possess billions, this phenomenon wasn't known at the time of the prophet, don't we be ready for day of resurrection? 4 - Today, women are playing a vital role in economic and politics and also they have a basic role in factories, information and many trading positions and there are separate associations for business women. All of these weren't known at the time of the prophet and no on even thought that it may happen. The Islamic term for this direction is qibla. When a Muslim prepares to pray, no matter where he is, he turns towards the qibla, the direction of the Kaba. The Kaba is a small cube shaped building in the courtyard of the mosque known as Masjid Al Haram, in the city of Mecca, in the country of Saudi Arabia. “For every nation there is a direction to which they face (in their prayers). So hasten towards all that is good. Wheresoever you may be, God will bring you together (on the Day of Resurrection). Truly, God is Able to do all things. And from wheresoever you start forth (for prayers), turn your face in the direction of Al-Masjid-al-Haram (at Mecca), that is indeed the truth from your Lord. And God is not unaware of what you do.” (Quran 2:148-149) Muslims do not worship the Kaba, or its contents, it is simply a focal point. Muslims worship One God, the Most Merciful, and the Most Wise. God decreed that when Muslims pray they all face one direction. It is a sign of unity that encapsulates the unity embedded in the religion of Islam. The Arabic word for prayer is salah and it demotes a connection between the believer and God; when all believers face the same direction it adds an extra dimension to the connection. The prayer connects the believers to God and the qibla connects the believers to one another. It has been said that if one could observe all the Muslims at prayer we would be able to see lines of worshippers bowing and prostrating like the petals of a flower opening and closing in unison. The qibla was not always oriented towards Mecca. The first Muslims prayed towards the al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Around sixteen months after Prophet Muhammad and his followers migrated from Mecca to the city of Medina, the qibla was changed to the Kaba. According to accounts by Prophet Muhammad's companions, the change happened very suddenly. During the noon prayer, Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, received a revelation from God instructing him to, "Turn your face towards the Masjid al Haram". “Thus, we have made you real believers in Islamic Monotheism, true followers of Prophet Muhammad and his legal ways, a just nation, witnesses over mankind and the Messenger a witness over you. And We made the Qibla (prayer direction towards Jerusalem) which you used to face, only to test those who followed the Messenger from those who would turn on their heels (i.e. disobey the Messenger). Indeed, it was great (heavy) except for those whom God guided. And God would never make your prayers to be lost (i.e. your prayers offered towards Jerusalem). Truly, God is full of kindness, the Most Merciful towards humankind.” “Verily! We have seen the turning of your (Muhammad) face towards the heaven. Surely, We shall turn you to a Qibla (prayer direction) that shall please you, so turn your face in the direction of Al-Masjid- al-Haram (at Mecca). And wheresoever you people are, turn your faces (in prayer) in that direction...” (Quran 2:143-144) Changing the direction of prayer establishes Mecca as the fixed central point for worship. It establishes a common sense or purpose. Throughout the centuries, mathematicians and astronomers have established correct ways to determine the qibla (direction) from any point on the earth’s surface. There are two precise moments each year when the sun is directly above the Kaba, thus the direction of shadows in any sunlit place will point away from the qibla. There are also two moments per year when the sun is directly over the exact opposite position of the Kaba, thus pointing towards the qibla. It is important the Muslims make every effort to face the right direction when praying; however, slight deviations do not invalidate a person’s prayer. Prophet Muhammad said, “What is between the east and the west is qibla”.[1] Nowadays it is easy to locate the qibla. It is a simple matter to look at a map and draw a line between your location and the city of Mecca. Compasses and computer programs that locate the qibla are readily available and most mosques throughout the world have a niche in the wall to indicate the qibla. Islam is a religion of unity. Extreme Veteran Posts: 491 | The calendar year of Islam begins not with the birthday of our prophet (peace be on him), not from the time that the revelation came to him (Bethat) nor from the time of his ascension to heaven, but with the migration (Hijra) from an undesirable environment into a desirable place to fulfill Allah's command. It was migration from a plot that was set by the leaders of the Quraysh who were plotting to kill prophet Muhammad, and to destroy the truth that today is being conveyed to mankind everywhere against tyranny and injustice. Their purpose was to destroy the foundation of the Islamic state, the Sunnah of the tradition of the prophet, and to prevent the revelation being delivered by Allah's messenger to mankind. The Islamic calendar is reckoned from the time of migration (Hijra) of Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) from Mecca to Madina. The Prophet's decision to migrate from Mecca came after several years of inhuman treatment of the faithful by the powerful tribes who were united despite all their feuds to stop the spread of Islam. Prophet Mohammad's decision to leave Mecca coincided with the infidel's plan to assassinate him. In 622 AD, the Quresh tribesmen held a meeting and decided that a band of young men, one from each tribe, should assassinate Prophet Mohammad collectively so that their responsibility for the murder could not be placed on any particular tribe. On the eventful night, the Prophet asked his cousin Ali Ben Abutalib to take his place in bed to make the Meccans think that he was asleep. The Prophet himself slipped out unobserved alongwith his loyal follower Abu Bakr (who was chosen as the first C aliph after the death of the prophet). They secretly made their way to a cave named Thawr, not far from Mecca and lay in hiding there for a day or two until Abu Bakr's son reported that the search for him had been given up. Then the two set out from Madina on camel back. They reached Quba, on the edge of the Madina oasis, on 12th Rabiul Awwal. With Mohammad's arrival in Quba a new phase of his career and glory of Islam started. This migration has a special significance in the history of Islam. It ended the Meccan period of humiliation and torture and began the era of success. His own people to whom he preached Islam for 13 years neglected the Prophet of Islam. But he was cordially received in Madina as an honored chief. In Madina his power enhanced day by day. Here he was not only the religious leader but took the role of a politician and statesman too. Prophet Mohammad expired ten years after his migration to Madina but only in one decade he changed the course of human history. In view of this special significance of the Prophet's migration the consultative body advised the Second Islamic Caliph, Omar ben Khattab, to start the Islamic year from the date of migration of the Prophet from Mecca to Madina. According to early Moslem scholars, Abu Musa Al Shari drew attention of Omar to an improperly dated debenture or IOU which was payable in the month of Shaban but it was not clear which Shaban was actually meant, the present one or the coming one. Omar called the dignitaries for consultation who made several suggestions to begin the Islamic calendar. Ali (who later became the fourth caliph) suggested the Hijra as the beginning of the Islamic year with Moharram as its first month. Consequently, Caliph Omar in 21 A.H. or 641 A.D introduced the Islamic calendar in its present form. The Hadith: Abu-Horaira said that the Prophet peace be upon him said: (To purify one’s vessel licked by a dog, he should wash it seven times, the first time is with dust) and Abu-Horaira said that the Prophet also said: (If a dog licked in one’s vessel, he should clear it then washes it seven times) [Narrated by Muslim]. The explanation of Hadith: The two Hadith refer to the importance of clearing and purging the vessel that is licked by a dog by washing it seven times of which the first time is by dust. We can conclude from the Hadith that dust contains an antiseptic substance, the dog’s saliva contains pathogens and that the vessel couldn’t be cleaned except by washing it with dust and water. Scientific fact: Scientists have revealed a strange fact which is the presence of an antiseptic substance in dust. When the scientists studied the composition of dust, they have found that it contains substances that if mixed with bacteria and germs, they overcome them immediately and that the dog’s saliva contains pathogens for humans that couldn’t be cleaned except by dust……. So Glory to God! The point of inimitability: It is shown from the Hadith that the Prophet peace be upon him has referred to a scientific fact that wasn’t discovered except in the 20th century and this indicates that He peace be upon him doesn’t say anything from himself but He always says what God be he exalted taught him as He peace be upon him lived in the seventh century when no one was aware of this medical fact. The signs and portents of the Day of Resurrection are the things that will happen before the Resurrection takes place and will indicate that it is close at hand. They have been divided into lesser and greater signs. The lesser signs, for the most part, will occur a long time before the Resurrection begins. Some of them have happened and ended – although they may be repeated – and some of them have appeared and are ongoing, and some have not yet happened, but they will happen as the truthful one (the Prophet) (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has told us. The major signs are serious matters, the appearance of which will indicate that the Day of Resurrection is at hand and that there is only a short time until that great Day comes. One of the manifestations of loss of trust is people’s affairs being entrusted to those who are not qualified or able for that. 10.The taking away of knowledge and the prevalence of ignorance; the taking away of knowledge will occur with the disappearance of the scholars, as it says in al-Saheehayn. 11.The spread of zina (adultery, fornication) 12.The spread of riba (usury, interest) 13.The prevalence of musical instruments. 14.Widespread drinking of alcohol. 15.Shepherds competing in the construction of tall buildings. 16.A slave woman giving birth to her mistress, as is stated in al-Saheehayn. There are several views among the scholars as to what this means. Extreme Veteran Posts: 491 | The major portents of the Hour are those which were mentioned by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in the hadeeth of Hudhayfah ibn Aseed, and there are ten signs: The Dajjaal; the descent of ‘Eesa ibn Maryam (Jesus son of Mary); Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj (Gog and Magog); three landslides, one in the east, one in the west and one in the Arabian Peninsula; the smoke; the rising of the sun from its place of setting; the Beast; and the fire which will drive the people to their place of gathering. These signs will appear one after another, and when the first of these signs appear, the others will come soon after. Muslim narrated that Hudhayfah ibn Aseed al-Ghifaari (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came out to us when we were discussing. He said: “What are you discussing?” They said: “We are talking about the Hour.” He said: “It will never begin until you see ten signs before it.” He mentioned the smoke, the Dajjaal, the Beast, the rising of the sun from its place of setting, the descent of ‘Eesa ibn Maryam (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj, and three landslides, one in the east, one in the west and one in the Arabian Peninsula, and the last of that is a fire which will emerge from Yemen and drive the people to their place of gathering. There is no saheeh text which states the order in which these signs will occur, rather the order of some of them is to be understood from the context of the texts. Shaykh Muhammad al-Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked: Will the major portents of the Hour occur in a certain order? He replied: The order of some of the major portents is known, and in the case of others the order is not known. Among those whose order is known are the descent of ‘Eesa ibn Maryam, the emergence of Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj, and the Dajjaal, for the Dajjaal will be sent, then ‘Eesa ibn Maryam will come down and kill him, then Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj will emerge. Al-Safareeni (may Allaah have mercy on him) listed the order of these portents in his ‘Aqeedah, but some of the order is acceptable whilst some of it is not. But what matters is that there are major signs of the Hour and when they happen, the Hour has drawn nigh.
