of a Playstation Network and Steam version. Guerrilla Games: Devs Can‘t Neglect Storytelling. Absolutely. Yes.Storytelling is a must in video games these days. Well, rephrase, it's a must in video games that present a complex plot. For a title like Super Mario Galaxy 2, for instance, the story is simply the vessel for gaming or exploration. In that sense, the storytelling is well executed by Nintendo. It's placed as a bookend for the game, and nothing else. That's where it should be.But for games with more linear, story driven moments? Of course storytelling is something developers can't neglect. And Hermen Hulst of Guerrilla Games, the company behind Killzone, agrees with that statement.Hulst spoke to Gamasutra about the Cheap FFXIV Gil direction of Killzone 3 and the current state of storytelling in general. Hulst recognizes the need for great stories. We get a lot of mail, a lot of ideas from the community, within story, dialogue, and characters and all these elements obviously are tied into each other...I think it's very important, in particular after releases like Uncharted 2 that really raised the bar on storytelling. It's become an area that you just can't neglect, you really have to pay attention to it. Neglect in storytelling does hurt developers when it comes time for commercial and critical success. Where the PlayStation 3 is concerned, and even in the entire realm of gaming, titles like Uncharted 2 did set set a new precedent for what equates to an incredible story. When developers set out to create a world of rich, dialogue exchanging characters, they'll likely look to Naughty Dog's critical titan as a point of reference. And that's fair. We're actually trying to go a lot wider. On Killzone 2, I think a lot of it was constrained, setting-wise, since it was based in the urban areas, the first half of the game. This game we're actually setting ourselves up so we can actually explore the Helghast culture a lot more. We have a very rich backdrop in the universe that we created and the story's very rich; there's a lot of stuff
