Subject: Question For Studio Owners

New User

I'd like to just put a question and thought out there.

In the business of Yoga, studios compensate their instructors almost exclusively on an hourly basis. They also employ multiple instructors, none of whom get enough hours to earn a living wage.

So my question: Would it be possible for a studio to hire only one main instructor and put them on an livable salary? That one instructor would be responsible for teaching the great majority of all classes at a studio. There might be one other part time instructor to pick up a few hours so the main instructor gets time off.

I'd like to suggest that a salaried instructor would be more loyal to their studio and feel more inspired to support a studio with 100% effort. I suggest that a salaried instructor would be a better instructor, and that students would benefit from this.

The downside of a salaried instructor is they might soon be better at teaching that the studio owner, and then there is the risk the employee will start their own studio.

I hope you might have some interesting ideas about this.

ps. I will soon be opening my own studio, so this is not just a theoretical subject.

Thanks in advance, Chris
