Subject: Question about Upper Heart Chakra (Thymus Glands), Which Refuses to Release and Open

Hi,

I have been practicing kundalini yoga for about three months now. In the beginning all my 'chakras' where blocked. I have now released all the tension from the root, sacral, solarplexus, (lower heart), and also the throat chakra I think.
However I am stuck at the upper heart chakra/thymic chakra, which is the thymus gland. I do a lot of breath of fire exercises which stimulate that area of the body, also I do all of the poses/variations/exercises which are for opening the (upper) heart chakra. But somehow the thymus gland refuses to release the tension. Every day when I wake up my chest and upper back are really tensed, the thymus gland created a lot of tension/(toxins?) aound itself during the night. After doing exercises, the rest of the day the tension around the thymus gland seems to be gone (or slowly replenishes, like the thymic chakra re-creates the tension around itself). I don't understand why the thymic chakra won't simply release and open. When I breath into my chest I can feel the thymus gland making cracking noises during the inhalation and when I relax my shoulders and naturally the pressure on the thymus gland area increases I can feel the thymus gland being really hard. Like a small wooden stick is there instead of a loosened, relaxed and healthy gland.
What can I do to relax and release the tension from the upper heart chakra?

Thanks in advance

How can the thymus gland which in adults is tiny....almost non-existent....be tense? I think you are imagining it....
the thymus is tiny and has no muscles....so how can it tense? it cannot move so how can it make any cracking noise? it only makes lymphocytes it has nothing to do with toxins.....certainly does not produce toxins.....
your imagination is working well......

weird.

I am not imagining anything. The area in de upper chest, just below the thyroid glans is very tence. It's like there is something there that produces this tension. Yesterday, I experienced a small release in that area and now the blockage has somewhat deminished, but it's still there. But if you don't agree with me, then what is your explanation?

This picture, I hope you can see it. It shows the location of two sore spots. Those are exactly the places where I feel pressure. What is this and where does this come from?

The reason I think the thymus glands is causing this, is because it feels like there is something stiff at the spot of the thymus gland. Also, when I breath into that area, I feel hear something cracking there. It feels like the thymus gland (or anything else in that exact spot) has become really hard and stiff. When I wake up, I feel a lot of tension in my upper body. Then I release this tension with some butterfly exercises from kundalini, and breathing in while arms are moving backwards, what is left an hour later is a hard thymus gland (or at least something in that precise spot) that i producing new tension during the day.

It's like there is something there that produces tension, which I can remove by doing exercises, but the source of this tension (which is locates at the exact spot of the thymus gland) is still there and is felt all the time.

I hope someone can give me advice about what do to based on this (somewhat weird?) story.

Harhashas,

I read your posting and am very interested in it. I'm not a medical professional, but I too have something similar to what you experience. I'll be honest and I know little about yoga or chakras (but always willing to learn from someone that is wise), but your symptoms seem similar to mine and I'd love to talk further and know if you figure this out more. To the readers on here, I apologize for the length, but this is the first person I've found with somewhat similar symptoms to mine, so I'm a little excited.

I too have "crackling" of sorts when I breathe deep in that area of the thymus--sort of like wheezing and sort of like there is mucus or something. How can that be? I don't know, but possibly it is from an enlarged thymus (thymoma?). The thymus could be pushing against the bronchial tubes possibly, or some other part of the lungs? And then when you breathe, they are irritated by the thymus? Or possibly bacteria and stuff have accumulated in that area from the pressure of the thymus? I'm not sure.

More about me, which may relate to you as well: I've had lung congestion and sinus congestion off and on for years, maybe my whole lifetime. My digestion was also pretty messed up, probably from tons of antibiotics as a kid, and poor diet as a kid. My sinuses were always stuffed up (learned to use a neti pot eventually, but that was only about 7 years ago).

Then about 5 years ago I started taking small amounts of colloidal silver (and eventually probiotics). Immediately (24 hours or so after the first doses?) a rash developed covering most of my breastbone--from top to bottom. I massaged the area, and the more I rubbed it, the more the rash came up--as thought the body suddenly was detoxing that area. Also, a strange metallic odor started coming from my right side armpit. Over the course of months, the rash area decreased more and more, to the point where it was centered just over my actual thymus area (near sternal angle). I never suspected my breastbone area or thymus or anything else for that matter. I did not like people to touch my breastbone area because it felt sort of tight, but I never suspected there were toxins or something under it waiting to come out. And of course my chest always felt tight.

Massage did less and less for it eventually--I'm guessing because it decreased in size--now I have to press hard on it with my fingers to get the "toxins" or whatever out of it and onto the skin, and the rash is much smaller and harder to notice. It is sort of like squeezing a rock at times though because I have to push hard enough to get the breastbone to push against the thymus area underneath. There was also a cracking noise of sorts in the breastbone/thymus area (ribs? sternal angle? I don't know what caused it) when I pressed on it that decreased over time. Needless to say, I'm still doing that to this day--it has been a very slow process. The metallic odor doesn't come out from my armpit as often either these days. It did eventually start coming out of both armpits though. I think my immune system improved as well as the rash decreased, and I do still take colloidal silver (bought online, and no I never turned blue).

But there is still stuff that comes out of my thymus area and seeps up to my skin, causing redness or temporary rash bumps even to this day.

Then about 2 years ago I got mononuclosis and swine flu at the same time supposedly. I was pretty sick and under heavy doctor's care. I recovered though (I don't quit easily). Afterward, my lungs and sinuses seemed worse--more congestion and such, but nothing too bad. 6 months later I got really bad bronchitis--which I haven't had in many, many years. I got over it after several weeks, but at times I could barely walk because I was so short of breath. From that point on though, I seemed to be more congested in the lungs when I ran (I've always exercised as an adult, lots of running and weight lifting for fitness).

At some point I noticed that if I push on my thymus area with my fingers, it also creates a cough and I expel some mucus--and it can also cause a deep sort of wheezing/crackling sound. I can't recall if that happened before the mono, or just after it. I got bronchitis several times after that over the years (just got over it again), and my running has been difficult because when I run, I always feel like there is some residual congestion deep inside, and I cough up some mucus from it. The toxins are still coming out near the thymus area, but harder to get out now. But why did my lungs seemingly get worse for running? I have no clue why this developed. In general, my immune system doesn't seem worse, although with the bronchitis it does seem worse in that it takes time for my body to fight it.

My current doctor is sort of confused by it, but he hasn't pressed me to go get it checked out further by a specialist, and I don't want my thymus removed just yet (that is the normal method of handling a thymoma if it is discovered). I'm continuing to eat well, eat things like chorella and cilantro to try to detox some, eat garlic, lots of probiotics, recently starting supplementing with vitamin C, etc, etc. I've tried some thymus glandular at one point, but not sure it helped--but I don't know really how I could tell if it was or not.

So anyhow, what do you think? Similar? I hope I didn't waste everyone's time. If anyone is still reading this, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I don't know an alternative medicine doctor that would be wise about treating this. I've been to various types (chiros, D.O.'s, etc.) that are just confused by it when I tell them, and then they go on and do their normal things.

Thanks, and hope to hear from you!
