| I have only been to my bikram studio. Do all studio's shut the lights off after the 'routine'? |

| Well....I've only been to my studio here in Maryland, and all three teachers do this. Sometimes, it is sooo hot, I'm am just WAITING until the lights get turned off...it seems so much cooler! |

| I've seen all variations depending on the weather, time of day, and the mood of the nazi teacher and the class in general. |

| I forgot how it was in our Bikram studio but in Iyengar we usually dim the lights for the relaxing phase. Everybody is lying on the floor with eyes closed so lights are really not needed that badly

Most places that I've gone will dim the lights for Savasana. The really considerate
ones will dim the ceiling lights whenever you are lying on your back, so you don't
have to stare at them. |

| In the Falls Church, VA studio, there are a lot of windows, so yes, the lights go out, but in the day...its still lit. At nighttime, the teacher usually leaves on one or two lights, its very dim, but not pitch black. I think the pitch black would freak me out. |

 Being I'm about to take my first class tomorrow and see references to the instructor being a nazi...is kinda skeery...
Well no, I don't scare that easily..but it's certainly piqued my interest.. |

| Thanks, I am so glad I found this site -- lots of intersting perspectives -- although, I cannot believe how angry some of the people seem.
Just trying to gain new insight in the classes I teach, as well as my own personal practice.

| Where in Miami are you doing Bikram. I am visiting family in Aventura over the holiday season, and want to go to the Aventura studio. I cannot stand when the Bikram teachers are rude and obnoxious. Even though its a regimented class, I believe yoga is still a personal experience, and 'cheering on' and words of encouragement are nice -- insults and barking out commands make the class very dissapointing.
