Hello all,

I have a question/topic to bring up. In my teacher training I felt they did a really good job teaching me how to be a yoga instructor, but not so good of job teaching me how to find jobs, build my yoga brand, and make a living off what I love to do.
Questions and feel free to not answer them all if you do not want to:
1. When did you get your certification and what type do you have?
2. How long have you been teaching for?
3. How many classes a week do you teach?
4. What is the average rate you get paid for a class?
5. Do you think your teacher training program helped prepare you for what was next after you go your certification?!
6. What would you have liked to learn in your teacher training that could have helped you after?

Hello all,

I guess I will go first. My name is Blake and I teach full time in NYC
1. It was 1 year ago in Guatemala with school yoga institute. I am 200RYT
2. I have been teaching over seas for 4 years, but only 1 year in the states.
3. I currently am teaching 10, but dropped 8 aditional classes because I was feeling burnt out.
4. At the yoga studios $12, $35, and $40 for a 1 hour class and at the gyms $50 and $60 for a 1 hour class.
5. In my training we only spend 2 hours learning about the business of yoga. I remember very little of it and we did not go into depth.
6. I wish we would have spent time learning different ways to promote ourselves, how to ask for a fair amount of pay, and how to stand out in a yoga audition. It has taken me awhile to learn the ropes and figure out the system here in NYC. Is there any other yogi's out there struggling with this?! or is it just me?!
