| Hi,
A western-trained doctor told me to reduce stress by breathing in for a count of four, and then releasing for eight.
It's done wonders for reducing stress, even though it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get the effect (which, if you think about it, isn't so bad). I do it while walking, sitting at the computer, waiting for the subway (I live in NYC), or just waiting around. I also do it whenever I feel unnecessarily tense or sad or angry or my mind is racing, and the knot in my chest just kind of dissolves!
I've been "spreading the gospel" and someone told me that it sounds like Pramayana (spelling?) breathing technique. Can anyone put me onto other breathing techniques, or a good site that describes a routine, or even another thread if you've disucssed this before.
Thanks!
