Does anyone have suggestions on what to do for hot flashes? Also, I am interested in comments from women about how their practices may have changed with onset of menopause. I am finding the heat in class to be unpleasant & perhaps not really good for me. I think it is overstimulating for the heart. I am doing a lot of sitoli breathing in place of ujayi. That seems to help.

I do ashtanga, vinyasa & Iyengar. I supplement yoga classes & practice with Pilates, crunches, knee & leg & arm toning exercises of various kinds, walking, exercise biking & Middle Eastern dance. I originally did yoga only (started at age 17) & took Sivananda yoga teachers' training when I was around 30. I studied with a fairly senior Iyengar teacher for about 15 years. However, I am hyperflexible & injury prone, so in recent years I have shifted towards doing less yoga & more other stuff. I seem to have a balance which works for me, but, I wonder sometimes if the Ashtanga class isn't a bit too much. I love it though!
