I think they have a use in very limited cases. However, in general, you should avoid any such things if you can.

so what types of chairs would you recommend we sit in, assuming there are times we must sit?

I recommend the following type of chair. Fortunately, most of the offices I worked in the last 26 years had them:

- it should have firm but cushioned seat. So that the butts do not hurt but they know where they are.

- it should have adjustible height so that tall and short persons can still reach the floor while sitting on it. In other words, they should not be horses!

- preferably they should not have any hands. Or the person should avoid using the hands.

- either they should not have any back at all, or one should be able to avoid the back, or the back should be firm so that one can not slouch back.

But, one should sit only for certain time and get up and walk from time to time. So, if the chair shakes after each 45 min until the person gets out, that would be great. In this respect, they should be like horses!

thank you for your insight, it seems I could just use a chair here and avoid the back, I had not thought about that
