So, while I was travelling (or traveling if you must), I took a Kundalini yoga
class. It was all breath work, and associated spinal work, ending in meditation.
Not quite like pranayama, but familiar in that sense, since you work with
bandhas and yogic breathing. We mainly worked from seated postures, used the
arms a lot, in motion with the breath, and did quite a bit of spinal flexing and
extension while seated. There was apparently a guru in the background
somewhere, but I need to go look up some URLs to sort this out. Overall, it
was quite a useful class...not enough to displace my Iyengar or Ashtanga interests,
but certainly something I'd do again from time to time.

when i practiced kundalini regularly, i found it to be a great deal of fun and do certainly be an energetic, kinetic practice. some classes were done with standing, seated, and reclining poses. others were done entirely seated, or standing, or reclining. it's kinda interesting. my teacher seemed to follow a specific format or cycle of all, thn each in it's turn.

since then, i haven't found a kundalini teacher that i've really really liked, or i'd probably take that style again. it's not one that i teach--except occassionally i add in a few to a class here and there. people seem to enjoy a little bit of pranayama in that form, and i also do seated pranayama practices.

The class I did was almost entirely seated.

Kundalini yoga seems to be reaching out toward me. Today I unexpectedly
met a Kundalini yoga teacher, and when I got home I found a glossy flier
for a Kundalini yoga workshop in my mail.

Here's a URL for the organization: http://www.3ho.org/
I have no opinion on the group, but I thought I'd post it as a matter of interest.

My pleasure.

I'm going to see if I can do a bit more Kundalini in my own area. Not sure
that I'll take to dressing like the folks on that web site, 'though.
