| I have been having problems with tennis elbow for awhile and lately it is incredibly uncomfortable. I am wearing a magnet strap which helps but still. Ironically the poses that bother it the most are cobra and downward dog. Innversions aren't too bad...
I am a tad frustrated and don't really want to blame iton my practice. Any ideas ?

| hmm. could be alignment issues--hyperextention in downward dog coupled with excessive compression and misalignment (elbows flaring out) in cobra, as well as misalignment when transitioning between the two, if you are moving between these two (i watched a very experienced classical yogin demonstrate this sequence of cobra and down dog today, which would definately cause this sort of repetitive motion injury). | |

| marie - what style do you practice? Sorry, I can't always remember each person's details... I wish we had a spot in our profile to show that...
I can see how a vinyasa practice could create elbow problems, as zoebird says. But long holdings with alignment problems could create the same issues. I think the basic rule is that if you have a problem with a joint, you should look to the next joint up the body and see what is happening there, so check out how you work your shoulders.
