Hello to everyone. During the time of our cycles when is it allowable to continue our yoga. I understand that we are flowing out and don't want to flow back in. What positions are I allowed to do during this time of cleansing or should I just wait until the end? Thank you yoga family.

Not recommended to do inversion asanas during the first 3 days of your cycle. Headstand, shoulderstand, wheel, can cause more bleeding, can stop your cycle or delay the next one or bring it on earlier. Breath of Fire (kabalabati) is not recommended.

Best to relax and take it easy during your cycle. Hold that place sacred to yourself. It is difficult to do, because I teach everday and do not always listen to my cycle. Good Luck

There is quite a bit of controversy about whether doing certain asanas can be harmful during menstruation.

The following article may give you some more insight http://www.yoga.com/ydc/enlighten/enlighten_document.asp?ID=74&section=9&cat=93

Additionally, the following book discusses this topic in depth http://www.yoga.com/acb/stores/1/product1.asp?SID=1&Product_ID=1444

Please do let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Namaste,
Emily
