Not sure why you posted here and not on the Bikram section....
• There are 26 poses or asanas in this form of exercise which proves to be a perfect work out for the entire body and not just one part of your body.
Only 26......could lead you to become very bored there are so many asanas to choose from, only using 26 is very limiting for the body and some muscle groups are left out. • The poses involved in this form of exercise create a balance in your body. The asanas in ANY form of hatha yoga if done correctly have the above effect. • Using strength, gravity and tourniquet technique, this form of exercise builds up stamina, flexibility and energy in your body. what is tourniquet technique? Any form of strong asana practice is done correctly will build stamina flexibility etc • It squeezes and massages the internal organs of one’s body through various poses and cleans the entire cardiovascular system of your body. The nervous system of your body is relaxed. Any form of hatha yoga if done correctly achieves the same. • The toxins from the body are flushed along with the lymphatic system. "toxins"are removed from the body in various ways.....and yoga alone will not remove them...only if a clean and healthy diet is followed will your body be able to stay "toxin"free. • It controls the oxygen flow and cholesterol in one’s body. What???? any form of exercise done correctly will increase your oxygen use efficiency and help control cholesterol levels if a healthy diet is also followed. • The immune system of the body is strengthened which in turn strengthens the resistance power of your body. most forms of exercise keep us healthy. • It creates a balance and control on the endocrine glands of the body. as above.... • It strengthens the bones, the capacity of the lungs and tones the muscles. only the weight bearing asanas will strengthen bones and muscles....the "sit up"which is done from a lying position between some of the seated asanas could easily strain the lower back and damage the psoas muscle as well as causing unpleasant "head rush"sensation. • Performing these poses in a hot room helps in better flexibility of the muscles. It is a good start for beginners. Doing stretching in a hot room can easily lead to over stretching and serious damage to muscles, ligaments and tendons. Beginners who have little body awareness or exercise knowledge are very likely to over do it and hurt themselves especially when the instructor is ordering you to push, harder try harder etc. • With the aging process the muscles and bones of one’s body gets stiff and increases the pressure on joints. Stretching exercises in this form of exercise revitalizes your body. Well yes but only if done correctly and safely and any form of hatha yoga done well will be as good or better. • The energy level in one’s body increases and also makes one feel young not only at heart but also at health. A state of mind which can be achieved with many exercise forms. • It also helps in regeneration of tissues in your body and cure many diseases. Do you have any proof? Following a healthy lifestyle with yoga, exercise and a healthy diet will help you to avoid getting sick and seed up recovery if you do get sick....but cure?? BikramYoga can be practiced at any age or a person on any stage of fitness level. Even the ones who do not have much flexibility in their body can opt for this style of exercise and live a healthy life. If you have very little flexibility and little body awareness you are likely to hurt your self in bikram. Asanas can be done very safely and effectively using props when necessary in a room of regular temperature. Anyone who is unhealthy or has any problems with managing heat regulation in the body should not expose themselves to excessive heat while exercising. So I am not convince that I should ever go back to a bikram studio again Eric.... Also bikram studios often use very aggressive marketing techniques, instructors yell and order students to push, push, push, most instructors do not give careful explanation about what the asanas are for, how they should be done or give alternative to students who can't.........very unyogic..... |
